The great quote sharing thread

Hello y'alls.

As some of you may know, I am a great fan of quotes, be they inspirational, saddening, funny or sarcastic. So I thought, why don't we share 'em here? And thus I made this thread. If possible, please share relevant Wikipedia links or other information on the persons you're quoting, and naturally, standard forum rules of course apply. I'll start us off with a couple good ones:

I felt that one was relevant because we have elections this year here in Germany.
