I know what you're thinking and no I didn't make a mistake. Yes, this is a creature but it does not belong in NPCs and Creatures nor the Monster Contest, it belongs here in Planets and Environs. Why? Imagine you're sailing through the stars looking for another suitable planet when something comes up on your radar. An organic, living lifeform is approaching. You pull it up on the viewscreen and what you see is an alien creature that looks very much like a whale. Before you can even wonder why a whale is in space you begin getting a new reading: the whale is bigger than most whales. In fact, it is bigger than your entire starship! The reading finishes and you finally understand the scope of what is before you. You have just encountered a life-form the size of a planet!

And of course, even with the vastness of space, the massive leviathan is heading straight for you! You have three options:
    Avoid it.
    Land on it.
    Do Nothing.

Avoiding it is obvious, but what if you land on it? You'll find that this creature somehow contains it's own field of gravity, you may even be able to build and cultivate on this massive being's mighty back! And that's not all, what if at some point this "Space Whale" has brushed against a planet and scraped off some of the planet's environment onto its self without noticing. There could be an entire biome complete with grass and trees and animals to be discovered; There may even be a sapient civilization that has managed to eke out a living on the massive creature as it journeys through the cosmos, even building several towns or ruins atop its back as well as statues and temples dedicated to the creature, depicting it as some sort of deity.

Now, avoiding it and landing on it to study are the obvious choices... but what if you do nothing, just stay there right in its path? Well, you won't have to wait long to find out, for as the great behemoth approaches it's undescribably maw opens just enough to unintentionally suck in your starship and beginning a new portion of the game... Your starship and crew survive being eaten completely unscathed, and you find that you can safely exit your starship and explore the insides of the planetary whale like you could any other planet. Maybe you can dig through the flesh and find the remains and possible survivors of other starships that were also unlucky enough to be devoured by the Space Whale. There may also be many unique enemies inside, such as giant antibodies that recognize you as some sort of foreign virus and attacks you to protect the whale's system.

But this is jsut an idea, let me know what you guys think ;P

Makes me think of that part in Kingdom Hearts where you're just flying around and then Monstro comes and eats your ship. Only this time you actually have a chance to get away.

He would be covered in space barnacles, which would host an environment of their own

    i have a good idea:
THERE COULD BE A BEACH INSIDE HIM!
that would be awesome, and there would be lots of aquatic creatures inside that seem like they belong to a water planet, and if you go all the way through at the end there could be a special item, like electric trident (fires off electric waves and impulses).

also, I get the idea that you like the colour red for some reason?
    naa, just me.
