New idea! I think you will really like this one,
Techno Magic:
Techno Magic are gauntlets with different items to emit what would appear to be magic,

Techno Magic Gauntlet Fire:
This one is set up to condense fire using heavy gravity fields, upon finishing of the fire ball heavily pressurized air makes the fireball jet forward and hit the target.

Techno Magic Gauntlet Lightning:
This one builds up electricity in its build in mini generator, when fired the lightning is shot out it hits the closest target then continues to zap the other enemies.

Techno Magic Gauntlet Ice:
this one pulls water out of the air and quick freezes it into a shard, when fired pressurized air fires the shard at high speeds at its target.

All of these hold the projectile in a gravity field, charges up, the more you hold the fire button the more charged it is, the more charged the more damage it does, these are one handed, and can be duel wielded, that's right you can have lightning and fire blasting enemies.

oh and grue do you mind if I use my Electro-Staff and these in a race page? but of course you may still put them up here,

 

go for it. I've just added a Laser-Chakram to the OP and spoiler'd for size issues.

I'm going to need to think a bit on how to get these gauntlets to work. I've got an idea niggling at the back of my head, and its worth expanding on in my opinion.

anyways, as a note to all contributors :: if you suggest a weapon and it gets added to The Arsenal, you don't need to ask for permission to use it elsewhere.

after I finish my work on the short story I'm working for for my race, I'll probably come up with a couple more weapon ideas.
my current problems are >>
- low thread activity for my race in the past few days leads me to think "oh, I have more time..." (a dangerous thing to be sure)
- I know exactly where I want to end this short-story, and am stubborn enough that I can't just stop along the way and say "ok thats enough"
in all honesty it really does suck because if I wasn't focused on fleshing out that thing, I'd probably be able to work more on neat weapon ideas.

In case you are confused about Chakrams it's the thing Xena always throws.
...or if I'm too old and nobody remembers Xena...
Terraria has one as well. It's basically a boomerang that bounces off surfaces.

and yeah, I know what a Chakram is. I've just never understood why its only considered a throwing weapon when you could use it as a neat slicey-dicey thing.

 

The reason some can split in half is for use of melee.

and no, you aren't allowed to write in Draconic- you ARE however, allowed to create some form of sonic weaponry that damages opponents through sub-sonic screams of draconic or super-sonic screams of draconic, or whatever you want.

 

Phase blades as i see the definition would be a 4 dimensional Blade possibly either electrified or superheated that would move effortlessly through our 3 dimensional world but would pass on the electrical current or Heat thru the object in effect negating armor, shields ,walls

negatives are no melee damage would be applied to target so all damage imparted on target would be radiation, heat, cold, or electricity.
positives in the graphics department are 4d objects are rendered as 3d objects in a 3d plane so it just looks like a regular sword till you try and hit something!

TL : DR phase blades are "mage blades"

I myself have constantly expanded uselessly upon topics or words which were already pretty much self defining (most famously my 89 page essay on the necessity of expansion on the word "dumb-ass" ), but...
but...
is it really so hard to just say "I want a sword with an electric blade" or "I want a sword which has a contained radiation field shaped like a blade" or even "hey, you know how you made up that plasma scythe stuff? can you do that for intense cold instead?"

ok, maybe a little- but come on, can you be a bit more creative than Phase ?

 

the phase part just means it cuts thru armor or flesh with no resistance at all but the lack of resistance means little to no melee damage

so when the blade is going thru the object no physical damage is done just the attribute the blade has other than the 4D properties

the phasing of the blade negates armor making the Radiation, fire, cold, or electricity bypass any armor resistances and directly affect the creature or person

Imo kinda op but with the lack of melee damage and only the other properties applied it might work as far as balancing

hence "Mage blade" no direct damage just debuffs and elemental damage

so just the difference in a phase blade and regular one is

phase = melee is sacrifice for increased attribute damage and resistance reduction

regular = just regular attribute damage and melee damage

 

ok.. I see how it works, but I'm not exactly willing to create any phase-weapons. I'll create Limited Beam weapons like Light-Sabers using these elements if someone wants, and in some cases I already have... but for a science-fiction game like this I can't accept the concept of a phase-weapon. Unless Starbound completely and utterly embraces the 4th dimension, then I can't put these.

To use a Phase-style weapon it would have to be "above" you in time. Not before you or ahead of you. Above. Going through the same time-line, but at a parallel course just above yours, preventing interaction. I can work the concept in my head easily enough with excuses that are similar to how a 4th dimension could theoretically work, or I could be blatantly wrong... but for the purpose of not fucking with time beyond the limits of 3 dimensions, I'm pulling out of this one.

I'll gladly create non-physical blades for you guys... just... not something that's 4th dimensional. (I saw that episode of Adventure Time)

anyways, I'm not going to bother with this 4d stuff anymore. I firmly and with great conviction equip my 3D goggles!
