Would be cool to have a Random Generated Star Map ( also Solar Systems obviously ) instead to have all the same coordinates for every Player / New Game we create. If everything is Randomly Generated, then also the Star Map can go Random !
Congratulations for your post, it's brilliant and I honestly think the game would become awesome with these changes. I had some of these things on my mind and I was thinking about posting them, like the gravity stuff or the special suits you would have to wear to explore some planets... I think devs should take your advices and implement these ideas, not only because they add some diversity and difficulty to the game but also because they are cool and many people would love to see them in-game. I would also add planets without any kind of atmosphere. Anyways... there is something important about all this, there should be some bounties, minerals or materials that you only can get in specific planet conditions, if not, no one is going to build a ultra expensive space suit just to find the same dungeons and the same stuff all over again. So... each combination of gravity, flora, etc etc etc should have special rewards or something that makes it worth to travel there like unique dungeons, minerals, weapons, mobs, npc's, etc etc etc. As I said before, thanks for the post and the effort. +1
I will add something more that I forgot to mention in my other post, it would be nice that, to be able to detect anomalies or all the special stuff from a specific planet, you have to upgrade your spaceship, this way the game would become longer and harder which means more fun.
Woops, sorry I wasn't very clear, They aren't adding ALL the ideas on this thread. Sorry for the confusion. (I'm trying to be more relaxed, am i doing well )
I mostly agree with what you post here, I am 100% for more planetary hazards past cold ^.^ and in a game about space exploration, I believe dealing with low atmosphere or even no atmosphere planets should be something to deal with. Now, to add my 2cents. I think that the whole scanner should possibly be tied into the ship upgrades that are supposed to be coming (Read in the news post on the front page) since Space Combat will eventually be a thing, why not make players have decisions on how they deck out their ship? For example; I might play a character who I RP as a (Say) Hylotl scientist. Thus, I deck out my ship with alot of scanning and probing equipment, allowing me to figure out exactly what is on the planet and, with time, maybe even grab some resources off it from my ship. This fully decked out probing/scanning ship would be what gives me a readout like you put as a screenshot... HOWEVER: say I play another character whose a Florian, and as a Florian I HATE EVERYTHING THAT ISN'T A PLANT GYAHHAH, I want guns on my ship, LOTS AND LOTS OF GUNS, big pew-pew guns...unfortunately, this didn't leave alot of room for scanning equipment...so when I need to stop at a planet to find fuel, all I can tell is that the planet has medium gravity, and is temperate...I Can make a few guesses at the flaura/fauna however, I won't be able to know what I'll find down there when I actually go. Anyway, going from that to another topic, I also support racial traits not tied to armor, however, those traits shouldn't be so...er...pronounced maybe? I like that some races do better in some biomes and others don't, personally, I think Hylotl should really get the ability to breath underwater >.> (seriously, their fish, come on...) but its hard to say that some should get outright immunity without completely breaking game balance, hmm... And as a final note: Oceanic planets would be very nice, underwater adventures, plus they bring in their own atmospheric issues (specifically if your not a fish-person..)
It was mostly a joke because of how the OP had "yes I know both sides hate the racial bonuses I came up with" edited into it.
I fully agree with everything you have written. In addition I would like to see a little more variety in the backgrounds:different colors of nebulae, galaxies, clouds of asteroids, supernovas, diffierent types of gas giants.
Sure, not the point of the star map... you want to keep it like it is now, just because you can easely travel to X planet with the coordinates that the other player post in the forums and gather the resources / items / techs for the easy win. Woah ! So much spirit of exploration and looking for those stuff without tips... You people can't play without benefits / facilities...
I completely agree with all of your ideas posted. I am quite pleased to hear that the developers have picked up many ideas from you. I got excited(probably overly excited) when I was reading through the wall of ideas. How cool of an idea would it be to constantly face different threats on every different planet. You could get so many combinations from a system like this, I look forward to seeing your next thread about NPC's. Keep up the awesome work, THIS is the game that I want to play!
This post needs a new category that it goes in, like a place where all great and awesome posts ascend into so that people know to watch this idea evolve into reality. if there were a section of the forum for all these great ideas where after a post became popular enough it would become eligible for advancement into this special place, where nobody could initially start an idea in this are of the forum, save for the Devs, then it would give a more centralized place for the real jewels to shine.
No because I want to see the worlds my FRIENDS HAVE BEEN TO. Because I want to be able to go back to a world through the coordinates system! Because I think it's a cool idea! How is that against the "spirit of exploration"? Do you not realize that the coordinates go on virtually forever? Do you seriously think I want coordinates just so that I can get "better ores"? WHY would I want that? How dare you look down on me like that!
You know that if you have a Random Generated Star Map you can always write down coordinates of that X planet, to go back into it ?! It doesn't change everytime you log in and not hard to do... A random generated Star Map, when you play with a new character, would break the monotony of the actual ( and everytime the same ) " pattern ", adding also more fun in the game, because you don't know what you will get How that is against the spirit of exploration ? Simple, if someone gives you the coordinates, when you travel on that planet, you know already what you will find... Tech, dungeons, rare NPC, etc etc, are a reward for YOUR exploration, not from someone other that spent time looking for it... Yeah, and you will not use coordinates to get the Mech Tech, Cars tech, or any other cool stuff huh ? lol ! - " ehy dude I've found the mech tech on this planet !1!!!! " - " omg omg give me coordinates now so I can have it too !1!!1!!! " Hope the developers will set the randomly generated Items to not get always the same stuff, when traveling on those planets with coordinates shared by players. No easy " win" , thanks.
