So you're going to delay a game that's a year late on purpose?
    Top tier logic.

It is. Much like reverse psychology, or even reverse reverse psychology, and so on. Thinking of more creative ways to create much more of an impact on release day. For everyone action there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every bad thing there is a good thing therefore if the bad thing is much greater, then the good thing will become as great aswell. Very complicated logic, but useful in this case nonetheless.

The problem here is that the game has never been late to begin with. The devs have only said that it might be released at those times. Nothing concrete about the release date has never been announced. The game is still on time.

This too. The game was announced a year ago, not finished. They've come a long way since then and for all we know they could've just been starting development when they announced it meaning that they've been working for little more than a year. Many games take much longer than that.

Releasing a game without any information about it beforehand leaves no excitement.
Releasing a game everyone is hyped about much later than it should have causes that excitement to die out.

There's a certain amount of time you should have between saying something about something, and actually doing something about something; and I'm sure the devs know this and will decide on a proper release date when they're satisfied that they still have enough people watching and have enough of the game completed. I just hope they release it when all of us least expect, that's always fun.

Aha, but people are only upset because the game isn't released yet. If it was released right at this very moment, do you think it would have been worth the wait?

Heh. That's not what I learned...

Be thankful it wasn't released. What I saw back in September was NOT a finished product.

... You DO happen to know Duke took longern a decade to produce right? Stabounds in its first year.

Its okay. Take a breather. Get up and go somewhere on your bi- oh. Im the only one that rides my bike to wherever I want to go. Shame. I forget alot of people use cars

Seriously though, Starbounds not going to take forever, its not vaporware, and you are all just being silly buggers for freaking out so much

Here, heres a great idea, look up some books under the name C.S. Forester at your local library. Type in Horatio Hornblower. I guarantee one of the oldest book series in the world can keep ANYONE enthralled in British sea battles for awhile :)

This doesn't make it late. It means development took longer than they expected. Being the first time making a game of this magnitude it's expected they get some of their estimations, like completion, wrong.

I actually would have been more surprised if SB was completed in a few months than at any push back of their goal.

The only thing that I don't like is when I'm extremely excited for a game which leads me to intentionally look for a release date just to find a "maybe, might be released around this time, maybe not, please be patient."

And then it turns out to be "expected" to be released the next year, and then the next year, and so on.

"It's expected to be released in early 2013, but they're willing to take the extra time to get things JUST right."

I'm very happy that the team wants this game to be near perfection, but these expectations written in the wiki can turn out to be a pain in the long run for those that are looking for a release date. Of course this doesn't mean at all that the game has to come out in 2013, it's just expected to be. And those "expectations" can get very frustrating the more one waits in high hopes.

You can imagine the following pattern; expected release 2013, (NOPE didn't happen), expected release 2014, (NOPE!), expected release 2015, (NOPE?!) ...

That becomes a furious frustration for those that wait with high hopes just to wait another year, and then another year etc. Not everyone have the same hope for a early release date of course, which in favor to them avoids frustration and springs their well rested wings free to the possibilities.

I'm not frustrated yet, and I'm happy that the team wants the game to be near perfect for everyone to enjoy, but I'm just saying, it could turn into a frustration when such "expectations" are shared and hoped for when they can very quickly be moved to the next year just by minor complications and decisions.

And like responsible, calm gamers, we are expected to wait, and do something else fun with friends, until it is finished.

I mean sheesh, come on, this isnt CoD.

You just have to be willing to look at things in ways you haven't before. Just think about it, but not too much or you'll go crazy.

This. At least they're taking time to develop the game.

Would you rather a slimy, greedy publisher rushin them every step of the way, causing them to put out an extremely unpolished, unfinished, and awful game? Because that's what happened when there is a set release date...

Except Call of Duty! Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V is an incredibly fast and efficient method of developing games!
