You dont need steam to play the bought copy.. just go to your steam folder and then go into the starbound folder and find the .exe file and start the game up
Oh, yea, list that contain more than was made, and even more planned, waiting for 2017 year for full game come out...
So Jazzed to get my dick wet. But honestly. The constant work that you guys have been doing is incredibly rare for modern devs. Keep up the good work, guys.
A couple of things that I personally think that would be a nice addition would be changes to make grouping more beneficial and fun, as well as more reasons to go into dungeons, rather then just ore hunt to sector x. For the grouping, if its possible, have instanced chests so if someone runs ahead, they don't take all of the loot and leave nothing to explore. Also maybe a respawn prompt if you die, so your friend has an opportunity to revive you so that you guys can continue to adventure or explore a dungeon, instead of having to always run all of the way back. Also a mini boss at the end of every dungeon that spawns which drops either an item or key to a chest that contains theme specific items/rares to the dungeon (i.e. poo gun for the sewer dungeon or a flame helmet for a lava dungeon). Also if you could upgrade your armor using the tier of the ore that you are currently on to create armor that made the dungeons possible, but needed to do the dungeons in order to upgrade your armor as well as weapons in order to become powerful enough to take on the sector boss, this way adventuring and exploring is for more then just fluff items and housing, but for progression as well. I usually play with 4 other people on the same server, and currently with the way the game is, group play isn't rewarding except for helping each other kill bosses, because chests are a 1 time loot, and you can't really help each other in a dungeon like a party could in other games.
the ability to mod weapons would be nice to have so for example I could attach a torch to my bow or gun. You could just make the weapons have slots like the player abilities so you could change the elemental dmg or make it fire faster or more chance of getting meat or leather i'm sure you guys could come up with many more just a thought
I love the game, and the direction you guys are going with this list is awesome! However, I find that the one thing that really becomes tiring is that there isnt really any direction at this point. I know terraria is not starbound, but the problem I had with terraria was that you were thrown on this world and left to your own devices. I like being left to my own devices, but it would be nice to also have some notification or direction to goto the next quest item, or the next boss battle.. Something to direct the player when he/she gets bored of seeing how far they can did down. Also something should happen when you dig all the way down to the core, other than falling into the core LOL.
Hmm, I just realized one 'flaw' in their "there will be no magic" argument: They implemented Energy. So in Starbound, what we're supposed to have are: 1) Melee 2) Ranged 3) Energy Melee are closed-ranged stuff that doesn't use up resources. Melee weapons could drain the Hunger bar faster. Ranged are basically guns, they're supposed to either be rapid-firing stuff or railgun-sniper levels of power. They use physical ammunition and a good number of pixels (to buy ammo). Energy can be a mix of the two, they should be the 'Magic' powers of this game. Magic that will utilize the Energy Bar. Or it could be Borderlandsy in a way Magic is just powerful Techs. Perhaps? Just a comment on the whole 'no magic' thing.
Is this what you mean? "Mini-Map: Rotating circular map showing highlights only such as the location of friendly players, spawn points–but no major details. For the details you’d use a mapping item to create a map as you travel." If so I am looking forward to this quite a lot, if not, then what did you mean?
Mother of god this game is wonderful. Lags like a bitch tho. Cant run anything else or my comp suicides but still loads of fun. ): I CANT FIND A GUN AND IT MAKES ME SAD! however does anyone know the hell castle? my start planet had this weird dungeon/castle brick stuff with hard rock around and frog statues. Anyway i love the shields. my god. AVIAN PALADIN. Also dual wield is tons of fun. ninja assassin ftw. IMO the hunting knives are a bit op cuz start planet has butt tons of iron and it gives u 10 dmg on the run or 10 dps with shield or 20 dps dual wield while standing ground. Also shield plus bandage is good. kk theres my 15 cents (cuz i said a lot).
Slimes maybe, not umbrella slimes though unless the Devs decided to put in a cameo appearance. Because obviously from Terraria. Well there are a sort of slimes in the sewer dungeons, but yeah I can think of a few places slimes might fit in. 1. A grey goo type planet where nanites ran amok and all life has been degenerated into slime nanite goo blobs. (Assuming the native life was based on a different element so no issues of player eating blobs.) (Oh, for disclaimer, the grey goo disaster is a theoretical end of the world by carbon eating nanites made to devour pollutants that for one reason or another decided anything with carbon in it is yummy, and devours all organic matter while replicating into a sea of grey goo. See Wikipedia or other sites for details.) 2. If the tentacle planet biome is expanded into being a living flesh planet type thing slimes could be the antibodies and whatnot of said planets. 3. BLAME THE APEX, because, you know, evil sciency labs scattered across the cosmos. Seems these three ideas would fit the sci-fi theme quite nicely at least. The problem of course lies in it would require them to be scripted enemies and not procedurally generated, and I imagine the Devs don't want to flood the game with more and more scripted enemies unnecessarily as it would detract from the procedurally generated nature of the game universe as a whole.
