Sorry to turn you down Vizendel, but I am quit busy with things I go to draw for my school projects and then I got to finish up my own content entry, one of these days. I decided to help out Faceless cuz I am getting so sick of working on my projects that I just needed something completely different to get my mind off the school work, now that its done I got to get back to work. There are a lot of people with good artistic skills around this forum, perhaps someone might give you a hand if they got little more free time.
I draw in Photoshop CS5, and I also got drawing tablet. However all you need is a mouse and program that has some sort of grid to help you place pixels. If you want to draw pixel art for Starbound, make sure size of your brush is 3 pixels, and is shape of a square.
Hey man, I strongly recommend you to give it a try. Might look up some tutorials or tips online just to get an idea how to start, but otherwise its nothing crazy, just take some time and keep placing pixels where you think they should go, you always can erase parts and then make them better. Its pretty enjoyable (Unless you have to work on A LOT of pictures for very long time, like I do, then it might get pretty bad, but I hope you don't get to that point haha) Btw size of a character in Starbound is (give or take) 100 pixels. Keep that in mind, just so when you making your golem, if you want to make it bigger than character. It's much better if you set your size correct from the begging, and don't have to re-size it later, as that can lead to loss of quality, or other weird distortions. That is if you want to make sprite that you can just paste into the screenshot of the game and make it look "normal" in there.
Im not going to lie, that would be a extremely formidable foe. I would imagen the only way to kill it is to remove it from your own demension and put it in another. (Blackhole Gun Anyone? )
Even if I can make it feel even slightly uncomfortable, I will be happy! Hell, I will just let that thing have its own planet, as long as it would leave me a lone :\
