About the Mod This Mod will be an expansion pack that aspires to be as diverse as the likes of Frackin' Universe and Elithian Races. This is going to be my first mod and from scratch. It will feature a custom race with 3 different playable species each with unique traits, background, furniture, et cetera. It will also feature extra game mechanics and hopefully its own story-line and side-quests. About the Author I am more of a think-tank and writer than anything else. I am, in fact, jobless and a shut-in so this is my little excuse to learn about modding. Doing this is my effort to gain confidence and skills to get out of anxiety and depression. I hope to establish an active and friendly community for this project and be a positive contributor to the Starbound Community. Co-Authors And Notable Contributors None so far. Content Preview (If the content becomes too big to fit everything in, I might consider using a wiki or something.) Custom Race and Factions "Life Is Never Without Chaos." RACENAME is a man-made experiment with a dark past. They are the product of hope for the future, lust for knowledge, and greed for power. COMPANYNAME was a company that focused on scientific and medical research. This company gained recognition for buying the rights to the legendary works of Shin Kubota, Daan Roosegarde, and NANOTECHNOLOGISTNAME(Please google them, they are real people). Having received financial support from the Terrene Protectorate, company explored the universe in continuation of Kubota and Roosegarde's respective works. After a hard and long search, they finally settled on a planet they founded as 'Neugrenze'. The company was able to create lifeforms based on nanotechnology. Controversy hit and investigation exposed the true intentions of the company's latest administration. Opinions and impressions split, accusations exchanged, conflict arose, and war spread like wildfire in Neugrenze's last 50 years. The existence of RACENAME was threatened but luckily a group was able to hijack a frigate out of the sector. Neugrenze was left as a worn battlefield with bloody remnants of horror. Having escaped near extinction, they eventually parted ways due to the fact that they could not agree on what to do as a whole. They split into major factions based on their core beliefs and have spread across the universe. Factions RACENAME split into 3 major factions. Because of this, RACENAME has birthed 3 distinctive forms through their generations. Below are general descriptions of these factions and species. When role-playing, It is safe to assume that there may be anomalies within each faction. "We are many yet we are one." Species: Augmentum Modi Core Value: Supremacy Singulairs are unified with a shared conscious and intelligence. They refer to themselves as 'we'. The Singularity values supremacy and is the most militaristic of the 3 factions. Staying true to their nano-technological roots, they have evolved their bodies through modification. Warfare and repair would be the only reason for augmentation. Also rooted is their hate for their creators. It is most likely that The Singularity is plotting against Humankind. "Through good relations shall we bring fruitful lives." Species: Integrum Civilo Core Value: Diplomacy Solidars consider the bigger picture in a light that is different from their hiveminded Singulair cousins and view themselves as individuals. Their society has flourished through trade and rapport with other races. Rather than viewing technology as part of their bodies, they see it as more of an extension. Out of the 3 species, they have retained their original form. "What else is needed other than what is around us?" Species: Spiritum Natura Core value: Spirituality Solitairs have abandoned most of their technological roots, relying more on their natural environment. Because of this, their bodies have evolved to be the least humanoid of the 3 factions. They have spread across the universe in small tribes. They usually prefer not to interact with other races. Although initially seen as primitive, The Solitary is more witty than expected. It's just that personal strength and simplicity is what they value the most.
Where Are We Now? I am still working on the custom race's profile and lore. Much of the it isn't final, even the custom race's name. I am already forming the history of how the first faction came to be. Any critique and help is welcome at this point.
