    Love it.

Any confirmation if you are on a planet, plant seeds then beam to your ship, do they still grow? I'd love to know this so that I can craft and such in my ship or AFK safely without fear of my crops not growing.

EDIT: Secondly can you plant rows and rows of farm plots on top of each other?

    Row 1 Wheat
    space between rows.
    Row 2 Tomato

From what I understand your ship will count as part of the planet so, yes they should grow. I'm going to check it ASAP to be sure though!

Another possible "Do", never leave any vines or fibrous trees behind. Get all the plant fibers you can so you can have a healthy stack of bandages for when you go exploring, as they usually mean the difference between short fruitless excursions and long rewarding ones.

That kind of stacks with the always keep bandages on you that I added a few minutes ago.

Yes you can plant rows of farms on top of eachother, think I'd recommend keeping the rows 4-5 blocks apart, so that they can grow nicely and your character can fit inbetween. (currently confirming/double checking) (Double checking done, it is possible!) :)

Plants do not seem to grow while you are in your spaceship. I have fully grown wheat and coralcreep in my ship now, but the ones planted on the planet are still sapplings :(

The moon's are airless or nearly so right? What do you need to start exploring them?

So I could say some I learn first day.
Get your pickaxe evolving....it will repair and it will be better to dig and mine......
If u have nothing to do..try to run over the planet.. :D:D ....u will find a lots of Items and treasures on the surfice...u can beam u up if ure in danger...better run in day....but i run 4 days and nights so far with iron full arm and have no problems....but did not run it over :D:D
If u do no damage u can always make iron bow...easiest way to kill mobs....
....its not easy to say it, cos i love nature but cut all the trees... wood allways comes in handy
also there is a lot of ore...just dig down....u can use ure manipulator as lightning probe...... its only 2x2 in blue or red but it will show u a lot...
Thats all I can add.. hope it will help t the start :p
May the foore be with you :yoda:

correction for those wanting to make bread, all you need is a cooking table which only requires wood and a crafting table. unless there's been a change in one of the last patches, that's the easiest source of food IMHO.

oh, also, DO use the 3D printer at the start of the game to scan one of your wheat/other seeds. you get ten pixels after getting the matter manipulator, use them to make more seeds to get your farm off to a nice fast start.

Take note: Don't EVER (And I mean EVER) keep important items in your shiplocker while in a multiplayer party. For some reason, Chucklefish thought it would be a good idea for people to stroll up to your shiplocker and take your stuff.

I thought it worked like Terraria Piggy Banks, but NOPE! Chuck Testa!

I'll add your tip to the list of Don'ts.

Wouldn't it be more effective to simply 3D print the fruit rather than the seeds? Or is that more pricey, haven't really played with the 3D printer that much.

Cooking table requires wood and copper, wooden table/crafting table only requires wood.(it's always been like that)

it was more pricey to do that. the seeds were one pixel, the fruit/food being more complex was more. now it doesn't work at all since the last update, so... no biggie.

the did change what it was called though. it was just a cooking table, not a kitchen counter. and i very distinctly remember it only taking would to make a cooking table, i think that was change in the update that they changed it to kitchen counter. because i definitely didn't have any copper on me when i made it the first time.

My suggestion would be that if you're very deep underground and have to return to the surface, don't die or try to climb up. Just hit ESC and click on Save and Exit. When you get into the game again you will spawn in your ship and no danger of losing pixels.

Here's my collection of tips (getting me real quick to drills and durasteel armor, like in 2 days of play):
    1. Obtain leather. Then you craft "yarn spinner" and make snow infantry armor. Dude, that thing rocks! You won't get even slightly cold on snow planets, even during night-time. Though a full set is pretty much cold-resistant (I had not even one moment when I was freezing in it), you'll be more than fine with just head and leg pieces (torches will heat you up should you need it, and they'll do much better this way!)
    2. After you got snow infantry pieces, go snow! You won't believe how much joy it is to mine there. Snow planets are VERY rich in terms of resourses (I suppose only volcanic planets are better), but the cool part being: all those resourses are in snow and ice, one of the easiest things to mine.

So, basically, my starbound gameplay consists of "mine dat snow planet until you're fed up with it" and "go explore until you're fed up with it". One mining trip onto snow planet supplies me with stuff for 5-10 expeditions, and can kickstart me (except for boss fights) for 2-3 tiers.

    3. Try to find yourself electic weapon, as it has short-range attack as well.
    4. After certain point even steel bow becomes pretty much useless, so fill that hotbar slot with something nice.
    5. Speaking of hotbar, always have some easily breaking blocks on it!
    6. You'll encounter mini-bosses, which drop nice weapons. Build yourself nice engaging battleground, where you'll have advantages! I found blocking boss with walls and making a small hole under it the most effective. Though it's boring.
    7. Same applies to hostile NPCs in dungeons/prisons/whatever, if you can't take them with bruteforce - be smart! Rangers are easily dealt with from behind 2 blocks high "shooting position".
