    Here's a rough-drawing:
    Cutterfish.png
    "EGAD It's hidden-eous!"
    And prettier sprites:
    Cutterfishschool.png
    In their natural habitat:
    cutterfish environment.png
    Variants:
    [IMG][IMG]
Biome - Murky pools of water and swampland!
Behavior - This underwater scavenger is highly curious and loves squeezing into places it doesn't belong. It's passive but when provoked will present it maw of razor sharp teeth to it's attacker. Cutterfish come in a variety of colors but can also camouflage to their surroundings so keep one eye open!
Diet - Anything it can fit in it's mouth!

    Special Drops:
    Cutterfish Blade - Resource/Ammo(?)
    Cutterfish Hide - Resorce
    Special Recipes:
Chainmaw - Like a circular sander only with razor sharp teeth!
Cutterfish Cloak - Camo for the underwater opportunist!

I really hope you like these, and tell me what you think! :)
(P.S. SORRY FOR THE PREVIOUS EYE STRAINING THUMBNAILS)

I like it, finally something from this forum that could be a wide spread mob.

Thanks! And I agree with you very much so! I'd like to see some more common or lesser mobs being suggested..or maybe I'll just make them myself! :D

  5. I could definitely see this creature making regular appearances on many worlds, and it fits nicely with the overall feel of the game so far.

Thanks which is one of the many reasons I'm hesitant to touch it at all. haha
All I can do now is just cross my fingers and hope one of the devs see this.
But I might make a promotional art piece just to bump the thread a bit..sort of like how Tom Servo drew up but different of course. :)

  8. I think a few slightly larger varieties should feature as well. I would like to see them remain small, but varied in size as well as colour.

Ah, agreed, and though I think size variations should be kept to a minimum, Giant Cutterfish struggling to camo in a small pool of water would be a hilarious sight.
I'd also like to see variants with problems camouflaging, they could maybe invert the colors they're trying to copy or just induce seizures with a wild display. :D

Though you might not be able to tell it the 3rd one is slightly transparent!

    This:
got me thinking about pets and their roles in battle.
Cutterfish could be used as a meat-shield with teeth or a very efficient scout.(especially underwater) :)

  13. I would like to have those 'cutterfishes' as usually passive background creatures (as rabbits or goldfishes in you-all-know-where) scavenging in small bodies of water, but they may become agressive if you are wounded or try to attack them.

That's how I'd view them. They'd mostly be camouflaged too(unless they're attracted by your shiny armor)so it'd be like they were never there. :D

Instant reaction to the thread name:

But still, these fish are basically piranha's, and since the animals are (I think) going to be procedurally generated that means that while the sprites are welcome, the exact shape of the Cutterfish is a near impossibility. But still, good idea and great spriting.

well yes and no, they behave more like lobsters and crabs with a cephalopodian twist and curiosity, every creature has they're preferred prey, but they don't savagely rip at their food in swarms like piranhas, they'd rather ambush and then eat in secrecy. The sprites are just a concept(go figure :p) and far from impossible in my honest opinion. and Thanks!

Awesome fish mob dude but in my opinion (Not trying to offend) it's basically a fish with lobster legs and looks green with red eyes and some seaweed at it's tail?
However, it still looks brilliant so try to make like different types of cutterfish. Really interested in this mob and how it works!

Haha it has absolutely no fish-like anatomy of any kind ..It's a hybrid of a cuttlefish(cephalopod) and maybe lobster, in the legs department..most cuttlefish have a similar tail as well, look it up. :) And I will continue to think up cool variants Thanks!
Be afraid! Be irrationally afraid! :D
