    Campaigner Giant Laser Beams

    Race Name: Clion
Inspiration: Native Americans + Colonial Pilgrims

    Biology:
    -----------
Their body is a milky blue-white, with it being more white near the center of their chest and nearly full blue at their feet and hands. Male Clion are bulky like a superhero, with chiseled jaws and strong physique, while female Clion are slender, soft, and more round faced like young adults. They are mostly featureless, save for large white oval eyes and a pair of short tentacles on their scalp. Between these tentacles is a nearly invisible slit that, when opened, reveals their actual mouth.

They have a dark blue blood that is entirely transparent when inside their body. This blood circulates around 80% of their body, which gives them a balloon feel when they are touched. Inside their chest is a single visible organ, which works as every organ one would find in a human. This organ is surrounded by a very strong flesh-like substance, which makes it look like a heart. This organ is their entire being, and they can live without a body. This organ, if damaged, will rupture and spill out a massive amount of toxic liquid that prevents wild creatures from eating them. Should something be unfortunate enough to try to eat them, they will die nearly instantaneous.

Both genders have no genitals, but are capable of reproduction through the use of their mouth. To do this, they lock their tentacles and mouths together for several hours, and produce an egg between the mouths. This egg is pure white and hard as hard as a diamond until it is ready to hatch not even an hour after birth. The egg itself is really the child, but there is no formed core yet. From the time the egg is layed to the time it hatches, the core is formed inside the solid white liquid, and the white liquid dissipates as it forms the new body. The egg softens to something akin to paper in no time, and the child breaks free of the shell.

Females have breasts, but lack nipples; instead of breast feeding, the child lays upon the bosom as the mother holds it by the rear and upper back, and the child absorbs nutrients from the mother. The child is born without its mouth, and must mature to gain its mouth. Until then, it lives symbiotically with its mother. The mother's core is very vulnerable at this point, as the core itself gives nutrients to the child's core.

For a real reference, take the transparency and red core from a Clione (Sea Angel), and put it on Dr Manhattan. That's a Clion.

    History:
    -----------
Once found on a lush jungle planet devoid of carnivores, they lived by peaceful symbiosis among the many wild herbivores. When the wild beasts were dying, they would give themselves to the Clion to be put down easily in a merciful death, and their remains consumed by the same people. In return, these gelatinous beings would grow healthy crops to which the herbivores would gladly share with them. Meat was seen as a blessing; you would only get meat if life gave it to you, and you would never take what was not your own. Mostly herbivores themselves, they live off of a strange fruit they grow that has the nutrients of meat, but tastes nothing like it.

One day, a stranded human landed on their peaceful planet. At first, the human was uncertain of the soft people, as they held weapons as if they were prepared to fight. Unfortunately for them, they were not skilled in combat at all, but they were capable of looking tough. The human figured this out, and overpowered his peaceful onlookers. Before long, he realized that they were civil and friendly. After getting past the violent diplomacy, the human gave the people the gift of reading and writing. Teaching them the Human language of English, the man was able to speak with them on equal terms. With this, they learned how to use the machinery on the human's crashed ship, and in time, they learned how to create their own technology using materials found on their planet.

The human passed away two decades after his arrival, and due to their understanding of human culture, they buried him rather than ate him. This marked the first grave in their culture. In the following centuries, they learned how to lift off of the ground, and they were capable of space travel after another century. This brought them to the realization that they could meet new people, and learn more. In time, they traveled to new worlds, and found that not all life was accepting. Not knowing how to fight, they were forced to flee. When they returned to their home world, they realized that they were gone for a long time; the planet's crops were gone, and much of the grass had not grown back. There were dying beasts, decayed bodies, and the gruesome truth that they were what held the planet together. Their people broken by this truth, they threw out all knowledge of technology, and work to fix their planet's ecosystem.

The non-playable race calls themselves "The Pure", while the playable version of this race is known as the "Techies", as they have not abandoned technology.

The Pure have ritualistically carved holes in their chests, and maintain this hole at all times. This is to atone for their failure to protect their planet.

Seeing opportunities to prevent what happened on their home world, the Techies travel through space to find a chance at helping other races. These Techies have also learned basic combat through protecting themselves, which disgusts The Pure. Techies do not carve holes in their chest, as their form of atonement is seeking out new worlds and people to protect.

    Language:
    -----------
They speak very basic English, thanks to their learning from the unnamed Human. Unfortunately, they are bad at describing things, often calling them "brown thing" or "bitey thing" rather than "tree" and "monster." They learn quickly, which lets them mingle with other races flawlessly, but they are at odds with some species.

    Relations:
    -----------
    - Apex : The Clions do not trust the Apex, as they use technology in terrible ways. The Techies see technology as a way to learn, but they think Apex use it for violence.
    - Avian : The Clions are not afraid of the Avians, but they respect them and their strong beliefs. The Clion tend to distance themselves out of respect.
    - Human : The Clions get along very well with non-militaristic humans, but fear the ones with guns.
    - Floran : Floran do not like Clion people because they are poisonous. Clion do not like Floran because the Floran are living plants. Both races avoid one another.
    - Glitch : The Clions tend to get along with the Glitch, but the Glitch tend to see them as friendly pests.
    - Hylotl : The Clions get along very well with the Hylotl, even to the point of having fun playing games and watching movies.
    - Novakid : Soon

    Culture:
    -----------
The Clions are very peaceful with nature, tending to only take what they need. If they need to build a fire, they move as much grass as they can so that none will be harmed. If they need food, they grab only a handful at a time. If they need to sleep, they curl up in hovels.

In terms of clothing, the Clion are very good with cloth; due to their meeting with humankind, they adopted the basic design of shirts and pants. While simple, their clothing tends to be transparent like silk to allow their core organ to be visible.

Clion males, despite their looks, are incredibly pacifistic. They will prefer to not fight unless it is absolutely necessary. Even then, they try not to hurt their enemy. Without a solid fighting style, they attack wildly in an attempt to frighten their foe away. Should this fail, they would continue this reckless act until either they come out victorious, or they pass away.

Clion do not have any form of religion; instead, they believe in the planet they live on. If the land is dying, it is because they did not take care of it. If it flourishes, the land is happy with them. It is not uncommon to see incredibly beautiful forests and jungles where Clion live, as their care for the planet they live on is more powerful than even the strongest fertilizer. It's almost supernatural how the world grows around them.

    Lifestyle:
    -----------
Working as Herbivore-Hunters, the males of the people seek out the ripest fruits they can. Normally eating berries to fuel themselves, they will only ever take hold of large, juicy fruits to bring home, much like past humans would only take the best beasts they could. Because of this, they tend to only hunt at certain times of the year, rather than year-round.

Female Clion do not "hunt", but tend to the animals they live with. Gentle hands as soft as silk calm the beasts as the female checks any injuries, sicknesses, and ailments that might be in the beast. Should the beast be unable to survive, the female is the one who gives them a swift, painless death by dripping a small amount of her blood onto the beast's tongue. In small amounts, the poisonous blood dissolves instantly and causes a powerful shock to the brain, instantly shutting it off. They never cry for the beast, but wish it well in its next life.

Children of the species are never without their mothers. Until they are matured at the age of 16, they stay attached to the mother's body. Pulling the child from the mother will kill both, so the mother always holds the child close. Matured Clion then take on their roles almost instantly, learning from their parents' work.

Clion do not keep beasts as pets, but there are times where creatures will live with them out of happiness and favors. Should a female befriend a beast, that beast will never leave her side. The female's mate and child are given the same respect, even if they only meet the beast once. There is only one creature that they would think of keeping as a pet, and that's a Gelbear; a bear-like creature with similar body composition as the Clion. The only hostile creature on their home world is also the only one they would keep as a pet. Gelbear, or Bear Clion as Humans call them, are hostile towards anything other than Clion. Next to a Clion, they are practically like dogs to humans.

Clion daytime lasts for a full 24 hours; they never sleep as their bodies have no need for sleeping. They are always ready to move and act. Should they need rest, they simply stay in shelter until they feel ready to progress.

Clion never argue with one another, unless it's a Pure scolding a Techie. Techies are welcome in Clion villages, but Pure dislike that they do not atone like the rest of the people. Techies take the scolding, but bear it no mind as their belief is unshakable.

Deviant Clion do exist, but are rare. Deviants are born violent, and immediately wish to become Techies. These Clion don't live very long, because they are quick to be attacked due to their rash behavior.

    Notes:
    -----------
I personally wanted to make a shorter post, but having sustenance is valuable towards a suggestion. I feel like an idiot spending an hour thinking this all up though.

I'm not going for some anthropomorphic animal. There's too much of that already with Avians and Apex. We need less "animal" creatures, more "sci-fi alien" creatures, like Floran and Hylotl.

At first, I was designing a "superhero" race, but I thought incorporating the basic ideas behind stereotypical Native American and Colonial Pilgrim would make a better race than that. On the bright side, I didn't want to ditch the idea of super hero designed characters.

I mean absolutely no disrespect towards those of Native American ancestry. As I said, I wanted stereotypical Native American style, as you would have seen in old cartoons, and not the more modern and hurtful depiction.
