  1. Figured it'll happen eventually, so why not from the beginning? Post your progress through Permadeath mode, strategies, and yes, Death.png

    even deaths.

I'll update this post through my progress.

If you wanna contribute screenshots and/or tips go ahead and if they're useful/apply I'll throw 'em up here!

    My Permadeath Journey:

    Tier 1

Perhaps a distant relative to the Apex? Perhaps an experiment gone wrong...I dealt him a swift and painless permadeath, though his captor was not given the same kindness.

I leave this barren land for greener mushroom pastures in Beta sector.

    TIPS

Use surrounding creatures to your advantage!
    use the environment.png

@SugarShow "Never attempt to open big space capsules."

@Wishbogey "Don't run guns blazing into a glitch castle when you have just spawned."

    @Regal Kain "Avoid Lava."

@Brassqund "keep eyes open for temperature(and food) indicator, specially the night or in cold biome."

@Rider of Dark "Use Ctrl+Mouse to scroll around for enemies and deep holes."
@Rider of Dark " Plant seeds/crops at the beam-in site. More crops yields more food, more seeds, and plant fibers."

@Trowzers "If you are going to mine deep or fight a boss, do it on a low gravity planet. This will nerf any falling damage (eg if you accidentally fall down a hole), and allow you to leap higher to get/avoid enemies like the UFO boss without worrying about falling damage."

@BushElito "Dirt is your friend. Spam that stuff out on anything that tries to kill you.
(I normally don't believe in this philosophy, but with permadeath? Anything goes when the health is low)

@Aleta "Make proper meals. Being able to full health back quickly can be a lifesaver."

@Lintton "Airship Propellers, and dark matter flying out of a capsule can instantly kill you. Not sure about the other traps, but I wouldn't try putting them around the house."
(For dark matter generators, either make yourself a dirt/block barricade or use a shield to mitigate damage)

@Samatazva "If you find yourself low on bandages heading into a new sector, jungle planets can provide plenty of plant fibers through plants on the ground level"

  3. I haven't created my permadeath toon yet as I'd like to become familiar with the new enviorments first, but when I do I'll post his findings here. I rather explore and see what's new before trekking through the unknown and dying 10 minutes in.

this is from a thread i started before knowing about this one, but i'm going to migrate here.

so straight away upon beaming down, i came across an avian village. one of the residents had something interesting to say:

day one survived! only one dangerous hostile on this planet, a tiny little ground dweller that shoots 20 damage fireballs at great range. here's my ship as it stands, complete with rubber duckie navigator:

so after traveling to a new world (my starter world is acid rain enabled), i began surface exploration and exposed ore stripping. in one such instance of ore collection, i came across some unknown structure. the mechanical monstrosities inside imply i should give this place a wide berth, however curiosity is peaking.

two planets of the three in my starting system conquered, both of them plagued by acid rain. it is time to move on to the last planet, the primary planet of the system. it is a snow planet, so i foresee many trials ahead. meanwhile, my ship is starting to get cluttered. i should probably work on organization at some point. i also have a bunch of techs and blueprints that i can't use, pity.

RIP Hexerin, died to a flock of birds armed with flamethrowers while exploring.

it begins again, and i'm moving on to another post rather than make this one insanely long.

Tip #4 avoid Lava at all costs.

No really 100 damage debuff, you're pretty much boned if you accidently into lava before you have some pretty hefty gear kicking around.

If you ask youtself: should I? The answer is probably no.

Good luck for the permadeath players...

I'm not playing permadeath, but I tend to die very rarely even at the start (played all day and got to tier 2 without a death), and this is something I like to do.

Save and ext before you try uploading a screen shot or your precious survivalist. I took a snap, and was in the process of saving it only to hear my Hylotl screeching in pain.

Poor Seasinger, he didn't even move from the teleport spot

I know, I just found it amusing. I had a number of distractions when I loaded up the game this arvo. And any kind of distraction and permadeath is a bad idea.

Looking forward to some permadeath action, it really brings a whole new set of feelings to the experience. And by new feelings I mean terror, rage and frustration.
