Ok, so the devs have been saying that we can tame random critters and make them into our slav-erm-pets, but what if, late in the game, you could get a machine that lets you put your MIND into one of them? That's right! BRAIN SWAP MACHINE! You could play as one of the randomly generated or popular monsters! Feedbackz, please!
I would definitely like to see some sort of way to do that, I loved messing around with necroshift in Divine Divinity.
Yeah, it'd be cool to walk around as one of your favorite monsters. I dunno if there's much else to say.
There should be limitations, such as not being able to leave the planet, not taking the body of any monster that kills itself , and it should only be for about ten minutes at most. Maybe there could be tiered machines, and the higher tiers would allow you to take control of more animals and for longer?
I don't know how controlling multiple animals would work; I would just prefer having higher tiers giving you longer time with it.
Oh, I didn't mean at once, I just meant you'd have a broader range of animals to choose from. Maybe some of the monsters' brains would be too complicated for a basic Brain Swap machine to handle.
Out of curiosity, do you just take over the animal -- or does an actual brain/mind swap happen. Will the animal derp around in your own body? I'm pretty sure the former happens, although the latter might be funny/inconvenient.
I hope it's the latter, if only as a joke. Although I'm sure you'd cage your body up or something before swapping.
This idea is slightly pointless, because director mode will allow you to do basically anything, including spawning and taking control of animals.
But a regular player, not in director mode, could do this, so it's not really pointless. Besides, most of the time, it won't actually be productive to take control of an animal. It's just for laughs.
If you want to have some laughs being an animal, just go into director mode and do it (if you can do it in singleplayer, that is). If you can't do it in singleplayer, this idea may have some use.
But you can't just switch in and out in multiplayer. That's really where this would have effect. Imagine going after your friend in body of the hardest monster in the game. That's pretty much what this idea is about. It's just for fun.
If you're chasing your friend, that would be in multiplayer, and he could be in director mode. Also, there is a possibility that director mode can be used in singleplayer. And, as I said, if you can't use it in singleplayer, then this idea may have some use.
Yes, but not everyone will either have access to Director Mode or not want to use it. This is the legitimate way for people to control animals. Regardless, just because you can do it one way doesn't mean there shouldn't be another way to do it.
Why would someone not want to use a feature that makes it easier to use, and with infinite time on the animal that you can spawn if you can't find it? But you do have a point, you wouldn't be able to use director mode in multiplayer if you don't have access to it (which would be common on public servers). And if you can't use director mode in singleplayer, I will state for the third time, this idea could have some use.
Why does the idea only have merit if you can't use Director Mode on singleplayer? If anything, it would have more merit on multiplayer. Also, the whole reason why this would be used in singleplayer over Director Mode is that some (most) people will want to do a legitimate playthrough, without using hacks or mods or Director Mode. This item let's them do that.
Actually it DOES have use. [noob player]Crap. Cliff's too high and I don't wanna play illegitly by placing a block as I fall... -ONE BRAIN SWAP W/A POPTOP LATER- -tongues way down cliff- Yay! I found a super uber cool grappling hook that works like the Ninja Rope from Worms! You- you see what I'm doing, here? {Gravity Falls}
