Here he is! The BLOODVINE! This carnivorous plant seeks fresh blood and uses it's wicked thorn-like blades to obtain it! Be careful wandering into the jungle... the Bloodvine will be right behind you.... Physiology The bloodvine's core nervous system is actually in the bulb-like lower segment. The brain of this creature is highly advanced, perhaps even sentient. It will lie in wait for the perfect moment to strike it's prey, pretending to be harmless flora. Then, when the moment is right, it quickly leaps upon it's prey, seeking to quickly disable it's ability to run or fly away. In the center of it's body is it's sprouting node where all of the main vines are grown. These vines become limbs for mobility and attack, grown or shed as needed. It will walk about slowly on it's "feet" but when chasing prey it will run with the assistance of it's two long bladed appendages. The "head" of this creature is actually just an apparatus for the consumption of it's prey's blood and for the placement of two sensory leaves. Theses sensors perform a similar function to eyes, but see primarily in the infrared spectrum.
love the picture, great idea, only thing that bugs me is, how the heck will that thing look "like harmless flora"? that thing is huge, sharp, spiked, clawed and tounged! all sorts of things you stay away from in the jungal. AWSOME!
It buries all of it's nasty sharp bits in the ground and closes it's fanged blossom so it just looks like a flower with a lot of long roots sprouting from it.
Wooow, that art is wicked. Looks bloody awesome! The backstory is cool to, this is one of those monsters i hope to see ingame. btw, you may want to make a pixel version of it.
burrowing, imagine one of these things comeing up from underneath you? but if it burrys the sharp parts (being most of it's body) that'd take awile un umburry. if you get that i'm trying to say.
