Tera is goo- Wait, fuck the what? WoW isn't free. You still have to buy the base game, every expansion, and then pay $15 a month. Free where? How? What, I'm not elite enough for you!? I see how it is.
Yeah, but if you work for a big company like most of those that own MMO's you don't pour thousands of man hours into something and then give it away for free, thats just terrible business sense.
Well yeah but then don't lie to me about it being free gdi just say "Hey dude you're gonna be able to play like one fifth of this game for free after that it's pretty much all on a monthly fee." And I guess there's good ones out there, like LoL for example. I just prefer one-time payments I guess. With those you're pretty much sure you're getting what you paid for.
Most F2P MMO's I've played didn't restrict content, you could play the entire game with a few restrictions such as limited bag space, money, travel options etc. as well as cosmetic items you could buy for cash. Which is how most F2P MMO's get money, cosmetics. (Unless it was DLC content, which is different, it's stuff they make after and then you pay for it. Like DC Universe Online DLC) The only game I can remember that said "Hey, we're completely free to play now! Come on and join" was Warhammer back when it first went F2P, and then you find out there are restrictions coming out the wazoo and a retarded level cap. Which if you wanted to advance any further you had to pay a monthly fee. I don't consider games that cap your level unless you pay a subscription to be actual F2P games... there's nothing free about that. It's just a tease, a trial/demo IMO.
Grand Chase is pretty much free. Only thing you HAVE to pay cash for is like: cash armor/weapons/accessories(which all aren't needed at all for anything), some pets, coordishop items(vanity, pointless), Gacha(a chance game to get a special cash armor or pet). Everything else cash you could eventually get in weekly events and such. My only problem with Grand Chase is the community of dumb people that can't accept change and have quit the game because of the changes and such from like a year ago. I really hope the game doesn't die.
World of Warcraft will never drop the subscription because they would lose millions in revenue per month. They don't have the microtransactions or other income to support their servers otherwise. WoW is Blizzard's Golden Goose and they would never chop its head off.
Kinda logical really since it's still pretty much known as the most popular MMORPG out there (even though that's declining) Ask any person that doesn't know much about gaming an example of an MMORPG and they'll probably say WoW. Even though in my opinion the game is shit, I'll have to admit that that's some pretty fug'n good PR...
Sorry for the doublepost guys but I wanted this to show up in the notifications. I'll be absent for the rest of this week. The theatre-group that I am part of has to perform the entire week, so yeah, I'll be spending my time either rehearsing or on the stage. So yeah, my priorities have shifted. I'll be completely active again next week. Sayonara!
I was referring to free-to-play games. In other news I am not very clear about things with the words sometimes. In other other news I'm still not active, just zippin' by to see what's hip and happenin'
So what do you guys think about the soundtrack that's been released so far? I like most of it, but some of the tracks seem to be a bit too... Well, slow, if you ask me. I guess that's a good thing sometimes, since you can't keep up tension all the time.
