/// Coordinate entry 15, stardate unknown Exploring this planet has yielded few surprises, and fewer rewards. I'm beginning to think coming here was a waste of time. My ship's upgraded starmap told me this was a level 10 planet, which had led me to hope for more. The reality is that the planet is mostly barren, as expected from an arid planet, with practically no settlements aside from the occasional societal outcast... such as the one I am about to disclose in an attachment. I believe I have met the one, friendly Floran in the universe. Okay, maybe too friendly. Possibly. Seeing the potential hazards surrounding their abode and the lacking structures controlling these factors, I quickly constructed some unaesthetic but functional barriers, ad-hoc, around this rare friend's home. I stayed for a couple nights while in construction, before they mysteriously vanished. I admit to being a bit frantic searching for any remains, item, or clue to where they are... The doors are closed as if they were never opened, and my walls with doors locked to my signature are unbreached. Did they manage somehow to wander outside my protection when I had looked away? If I see even one pixel lying on the ground, I think I will cry. . I have found nothing. There is nothing left. I will continue my exploration eastward and return to my ship. At the very least, I didn't find anything. Perhaps that means, somewhere, that friendly Floran is still alive. /// x: -55396645, y: 55210982 planet: X Electra 6097 IIb notable features: The best Floran in the quadrant. (Just wanted to present this in a dramatic way, because I really did feel sad when they disappeared.)
Barriers dissapearing is weird, it could be a bug, and the NPC dissapearing might be a normal bug, as for the pixel i also see random pixels sometimes on the ground on areas i haven't even explored, i just assume monsters die my poison/lava.
Well dood, if this helps, You can reset the planet going to universe folder and erasing the file with X_followed with the coords of the planets dood (remember to recover your stuff/raid what you need before doing so). Edit: Maybe monsters spawned inside the defenses dood? (no idea of spawning conditions, just theory)
So far as I've seen, ground monsters only seem to spawn on natural tiles, and will not spawn on man-made tiles (things like Titanium Panels are the example I'm most familiar with.) They can wander onto those man-made tiles, but beyond that that should offer a steady source of protection. Birds can only spawn where there are no player-set walls present, or if those walls were placed as part of a dungeon during worldgen that naturally spawn fliers. The hut's out in the open without either form of protection save for the interior (where monsters should never spawn), plus NPCs are prone to occasionally (read: Nearly always) being total derps and wandering away from protected areas anyway. Also, if there's any nearby ravines the Floran might have fallen into, check those. Sometimes they like to go spelunking with no gear or any means to get back out.
It's not the exact same one, but I found another friendly Floran hanging around on this world. Given how unprotected the hut is, I decided to not take any chances and simply left the area as soon as possible hoping that it would be more likely to survive in my absence than if I were with it.
