    No, you silly.

Zombies don't make cute mushroom houses, sell you guns and say 'Halhoom!'

Not that I approve of imprisoning dear Florans, though. Nasty shroomies.

If you think mushroom parasites that infect insects are spooky consider that there are parasites that effect HUMAN behavior.

For example Toxoplasmosis (At the last estimate a third of the worlds population was infected with this parasite). Numerous studies have found a positive correlation between latent toxoplasmosis and suicidal behavior in humans.

The cordyceps infected in The Last Of Us went through a series of phases. Maybe if they were left for long enough, some form of sentience would reemerge... so the Agarans are some centuries-old infected race...

Shouldn't you post this in, i don't know, the dedicated Agaran thread?

Anyway, it's been discussed a million times.

Agarans don't infect things like Cordyceps, either. As the tale of the Restless Sparrow tells us, Agaric fungal matter can use a corpse as food and the skeleton as a frame to build a new Agaran with. In the case of the Restless Sparrow, it used a Sunborn corpse, and possibly some other Avian corpses later? I'm not quite sure about the additional corpses. But they definitely did use the Sunborn corpse.

But that is kind of what Cordyceps do, they infect a living creature, force it to go to some high point and die, so it can consume the flesh and grow tall and then spread it's spores over the unsuspecting targets below.

And what Agarans do is consume a corpse, use the skeleton as a frame for an Agaran, and then do Agaran things, whatever those may be in this case. Also, I've requested mods to merge this with "The Agaran Menace" thread.
