Well, we at LEAST know they infect Florans, heck, they're entire existence probably depends on a parasitic relationship with Floran's, but we're not so sure about other races, so I do agree with you. Still, its best for the spores not to spread, as the spores seem to grow more Agaran's.

I wonder where they get the weapons?

Probably previously owned by their Floran hosts. Floran's do like their ssstabing after all

We don't know if they infect Florans. Besides, the Florans seem to be giving the Agarans by will. They can't "infect" any other species unless they crawl into those pods, and we haven't descovered the effects of that yet. So far, it seems to preserve your body.
They only have the Human Tier 1 Broadsword. The tactic used to create these are very well known throughout the galaxy, and the Agarans probably acquired blueprints for them somewhere.

I found an Apex in a pod on planet

The Unstable update on the 14th added Floran Pods with a mutated apex coming out, but they resemble the pods you find with Agaran growths sprouting from them.

    That's like, a 10 on the freak-of-nature scale.

If this is true, then the picture of the Agarans has already been pre-drawn, and we are seeing bits and pieces of a hidden - but already complete - picture that could be even darker, even bleaker, even more complicated than we ever concieved. At the end of the day, though, the devs are the final word, and the lore establishes their alignment and fate.

Perhaps the devs aren't taking ideas from this thread and that we just guessed the lore/background extremely accurately. Perhaps the original view of menacing mushrooms was how it was meant to be. Or maybe there is a massive plot twist....

Anyway, especially today, is anyone experinecing their Chucklefish Forums Logo going all...random/derpy? on one page i saw pin friends; the next a weird cat...:cautious:

No one agreed to that. You are actually the only one yelling at people about jumping to conclusions. Everyone else is having fun speculating in their own way which may or may not include leaps and jumps. Try to ride the wave of excitement and have some fun with it already.

Actually if you look at it it's most likely not Floran weaponry. The Floran weapons throughout the game are all plant-styled, while the Agarans all have metal blades as far as I've seen. Definately doesn't look Floran.

The armor is Floran, but the sword is a common iron human blade, which almost anyone could make.

Check out Part 4 of my theory on Agaran Origins on page 58. I think I probably have only 2 or 3 more parts left to post. I will probably make a separate thread to copy it all over to sometime soon.

And now part 5 as well...

So I guess that's what happened to the previous research staff...

Oh well, time to hire a new one. I wonder if the headhunter gives bulk discount on florans...

Actually, racial descriptions suggest that the apex is not coming out, but trying to get in.

    Nature is now officially broken.

Well, that raises more questions. Why would an unclothed apex actively seek out one of these pods, and attempt to enter it?

    Here's what I think.

STAGES OF INFECTION (note, i'm assuming it's an infection/disease due to the changing of Apex skintones to match the pods)
    1. Suitable Host encounters spores, and possibly breathes them in
    2. The spores latch on to the Host
    3. If the spores weren't inhaled, they reproduce until they can reach an opening in the body such as the mouth.
    4. Once inside of their host, the spores eventually make their way throughout the vital organs
    5. A buildup of these Proto-Agaran cells accumulates within the brain, and begin to slowly take it over.
    6. By utilizing the blood/sap of the host, the spores evenly disperse and take over the various extremities, causing possible bloating and discoloration of limbs and hair.
    7. The host makes their way to a nearby pod, and enters it.
    8. After some unidentified metamorphosis, the Suitable Host emerges as an Agaran.
By examining the fact that full-grown Agarans guard the pods, which theoretically may contain proto-agarans, one could assume that the metamorphosis is either completely rebuilding the Host's body, or very time-consuming.

Perhaps by growing one of these pods for a longer period of time, the host could become one of the unidentifiable beasts from the Attack Of The Deep Space Spores,
which I'll be referring to by the appropriate nickname of G3 Agarans.

Imagine if the devas were particularly nasty and made it so that if you die to an agaran, you had a random chance of becoming an agaran, which could only be cured by respawning again.

Also, has anyone wondered how the Agarans get around? I mean, yeah, they can ride ships to get to other places and then breed, but what about mass transportation of the army that they are breeding across several planets? And also, assuming they can get all the Agarans onto some type of ship and onto a planet, how do they get around on the ground? I thought that maybe they are also breeding some type of creature to ride. Maybe not for all of them, but for generals, or scouts, they might need something to ride. Maybe they are collecting Hylotl organic tissue - and then surgically attaching it to more tissue. With LOTS of tissue, they might be able to build a large - or even massive - creature to ride, anything from the size of a small horse to ride around on the ground to a massive Space-FunguSquid.

Sorry, I basically wanted an excuse to type Space-FunguSquid. However, I do think they idea is an interesting one.

That might actually be a cool new gamemode - "Agaran Hardcore." I would certainly play with that regularly.

This is assuming they have an army. They might not be very organized at all, being so sparse.
