He might refer to the tentacles, or perhaps to the type of "invasion" agarans are doing?

But the Hylotl what?! Do you copy, mr. McVicar? We need you...
The Hylotl are mindcontrolling agarans? That... would make very little sense. But I don't think it would be the Apex either, because it seems their experiments backfired horrendously.

What part do Apex play in this? This seems to be very important.

Well, Big Ape and his scientists were testing with some floran DNA in Project Incarcerus with the assistance of Greenfinger. Greenfinger ordered Ring of Thorns to eliminate the tests, because some of his secrets relating to the floran origin were in danger to be revealed.
Apparently the Apex continued the tests and created the green mutant apes you see in the labs. The mutants are crawling to the agaran pods, shown by the item floranapexpod. The agaran-infested apex medical camps.

I suspect that the apex mutants seek the agaran pods because of the mind control, having agaran DNA somehow.

B.O.T MK.VII, log 415 "Statement. While exploring we came into contact with several Agarans in a ransacked Apex research base with two pods guarded by Agarans, much to my surprise we were able to acquire the Agaran pods without them noticing. As i do this log the pods are en route to a offsite base to be better researched and studied so we can learn more about this new and mysterious enemy." end of log

They seem like a tame version of the flood form halo, they will infest buildings and anyone threatening them, but they don't seem to actively seek out people. If anything they seem more like a sentient pest o'r a parasitic culture rather than trying to destroy civilization.

Back on point as zebe posted, they could have been partially responsible, or at the very least, known of them before anyone else, but that lore came before the agarans update and i think its to do with the tentacles rather than the agarans. By looking at recent lore, we can safely assume that it is well connected to the florans, as well as being hinted towards the hylotl (it's... it's just like on Earth... but... the Hylotl.., also the poster) and the avians (end of the mushroom vid) or a avian.

It's possible that the hylotl created them as a bio-weapon against the floran but i seriously SERIOUSLY doubt it for 2 reasons

1.The agarans where named by Greenfinger hinting that the florans where the first to encounter them.

2.If that where true, the missionaries, would not have walked into their village and try to enlighten them.

It's possible that the apex had some part in their creation (if they where even created at all) but again i think that refers to the tenta-comet, that leaves us with the avian at the end of the vid. As far as we know, compared to other species, the avians appear rather low on the tech pyramid, so i seriously doubt they could have created them, but the smirk on the guys face gave it away, and although there's no evidence to support that its Thornwing (the only important avian we have in the lore) Green-finger does describe him as rather shifty and suspects him of having a hidden motive in one of the codex's (no idea what it's called but it has something to do with Greenfinger ranting about big ape hiding behind a screen). So if there is any mind control (and that's a big if) it would be due to a collection of races unintentionally (except the avian).

    Also
    The avians are the vicars;)

Well if you think about it, they really are magic mushrooms:D, But in all seriousness, the lore has been heavily influenced by this thread but can you blame the devs? If they ignored the thread and made the agarans another airship-type race, a lot of people in this thread would be pissed, but i strongly agree that this has caused the agarans to become the typical 'baddie'. We really need reasons and other possibilities besides 'they're evil',the same thing happened when the florans lore was released and people complained that they were evil monsters (they're still savages) and wanted more diversity group rather than being 'the bad guy's', yet you're doing the exact same thing to the agarans. I'm not saying they're peace loving diplomats, but there's still plenty of evidence that the agarans are simply territorial rather than actively seeking out and plaguing planets. The USCM are territorial and kill on sight, but there's no mass extinction threats declaring them as the embodiment of the apocalypse (although you cant deny the fact that they're dicks).

It's possible but there's a limit, it's pretty hard to misinterpret the recent post's.

Sorry but there's no evidence to support this at all, although I'll grant you, its an interesting theory.

So are human children when they're born, it's just the womb/pod protecting and nourishing the child/clone until it's ready, otherwise you're clone would be wedged at the bottom of the pod and become extremely disfigured or die.

Due to the fact that the fate of the agarans depend on the devs which are influenced by this thread i have a theory that it will inevitably follow the pattern and create its own character. When the thread first came out, there was a lot of arguing over the first piece of information we had about the hylotl emissaries, and most people agreed that the agarans where to be avoided, this got over-exaggerated by banter and in game pics and the devs complied and gave us more information about the agaran 'menace', now we have a lot of evidence and opinions that the agarans are evil incarnate, but as most of us have realized, the agarans are a near reflection of this thread and alot of people are starting to cool down (but still are aggressive towards them) and as such I'd predict that the next few pics/vids, would be more positive, o'r at the very least a bit less vindictive, this would cause those who still hate them to lash out with previous evidence and again the thread will be filled with deathstars and lasers. The thread would go through large phases of 'their evil' then flicker to short bursts of 'o'r are they?' and eventually when the thread dies and the devs release the agaran story, the lore would be diverse because of the constant flickering back and forth, we'd have a clear story, that doesn't say that their 'pure evil' o'r peace activists, although there will still be considerably more evidence towards them being 'bad' than 'good'.

Its more than likely that that was a waste of time and space, although i warn you, if it's true, there will be much gloating:chucklefish:.

They don't seem like evil incarnate.
Also, the description of that youtube video explains the avian. It doesn't really say he has to do with it:
"Thornwing intercepts a transmission from investigative journalist Charlton McVicar, and the true threat of the Agaran menace is revealed."

Thornwing probably sabotaged it somehow before letting it get to the media. He's always up to something.

The poster/video didn't exactly portray them as benevolent.

Interesting....but i stick by my previous statement, he didn't exactly look upset hearing that the agarans are dangerous, perhaps he thinks he can control them.

Seeing as the player Avian is Grounded, and so is Thornwing, I'd like to see a clash of ideals in the end. Righteous Player Avian vs. Corrupt Insecure Thornwing.

    Hello Again!
Just stopping by to deliver a
    theory about those Agaran pods.

"Some kind of bizarre pod. Something is growing out of it."

This is the description for the Fungal pods.
    floranpod3.png floranpod1.png floranpod2.png
That means that those appendages aren't just parasitic spores, but they are part of the forming specimen itself.
Now, referring to the above message, I have two theories.
Theory One is that there are Agarans in those pods. Have you figured out that these are guarded by Agarans at ALL times if these appendages are on them? I predict that these little tube penetrating the pod's surface are some sort of feeding holes used to feed oxygen and food to the unborn Agaran, much like the umbilical cord in an unborn human specimen. The Agarans must emit some kind of nutrient from there skin that either enters an unseen hole in the appendages or the appendages break the nutrient and sent the chemical energy to the specimen. Much like a human, the appendages break off when the pod hatches and are either used by the Agarans or left to decompose. (Or they get eaten by Florans :iswydt:) We know this because the pods are missing the appendages when we find them open, and we don't see Agarans walking around with silly arms sticking off of them, although I would like to see that.

Theory Two is a duplicate of Theory One, except instead of Agarans in those pods, there are some sort of Hackamajigs inside that are either good or bad.
    giantfloranpod.png
We have seen this image emerge on various websites, although the sources are very unreliable. If this pod DID exist, then Theory Two would receive much more support. Any reliable sources have been unable to locate any of these.

You leave a good point, although we currently have no other realistic Theories for this. The one about "Space Spores" has no explanation nor any evidence. My theory at least has the strange pot-like structures to support it.
But we should keep our minds open until we have an accurate, supported, confirmed Theory.

    Goodbye!

Where are people getting this idea that this thread has any bearing on the Agaran Lore? Was this stated somewhere? Recently several people have started stating that our comments and responses are the reason the Agarans are being shaped the way they are. I think it is ridiculous to think that the devs are reading our every word in this thread and basing their entire design on what we say, especially when the thread has been almost completely dominated by a handful of people arguing with eachother and generally being rude to everyone who disagrees with them.

The thread was created and named by the Lorewriter. He clearly had in mind what they were going to be when he created the title of the thread. As for the voting, it is an opinion poll. What do we think they are, not what do we want them to be. This thread is designed as a teaser to keep people talking about the Agaran and to share information with eachother. It is a much more interactive way to build hype for a game feature.

I think it is extremely arrogant and a little offensive to the devs to assume that we are the ones calling the shots with how the Agarans are designed.

Except the devs have stated elsewhere that we are 'shaping the story' so to speak
i agree that it is pretty stupid to say that given that they put the verdict in the name of the case before they even got a jury.

What do the Rainbow people have to do with this? I busted this meeting very recently on an almost all-rainbow planet. Note that the Rainbow Person is not even in their mini-biome and seemed to have actively sought out the Agarans. What does this mean?

Hmm... little late to the party. Actually only found out about this thread last Friday. I've actually been seeing Agaran all over the place, but just assuming that they were gibberish spewing nonhostile Florian.

    Alpha Cryocia Majoris:
    X: 99586928 Y: -90911135
Some hunters on the moons of 5b and 5c. And by hunter I mean the type standing next to the big huge Florian statue.

    Gamma Krism 653
    X: 99586896 Y: -90911160
Planet number one, the savannah and not the adjacent moon. Head to the right and past one abandoned apex complex you'll run into one of those overrun decayed medical apex complexes. Complete with pods.

But yeah. All the Agaran I've run into have been very nonhostile, but then again I'm Glitch. Not much to offer to a fungus based creature. Now if they were rust monsters I'd be as freaked out as the rest of you. Also I'm going to go with the camp of that given the nature of this thread title, we might be influencing parts of the plot but not in the way of changing direction of whether the Agaran would have been antagonists or not.

I was not saying anything about naming a case before a jury at all. I was clearly stating that there was no jury as far as I was aware... However....

Evidently I was wrong. Thank you for clearing this up for us all though.

    No problem.

Everyone in this thread is doing a pretty fantastic job of sleuthing. Let's take a look...

    ✔ Who?
    ✔ What?
    ✔ When?
    ✔ Where?
    ✘ Why?
