You seem to keep sticking up for the Agarans. Wait, that might mean...... you've been infected!

If you've ever died as a Floran, you'll recognize those pods. They're the ones Florans come out of when they respawn, and presumably the ones they are born from, along with their other "cocoon kin", which are probably siblings born from the same pod.

These ones, however, are infected with Agaran fungal growths.

actually I'll have to agree and say that the Floran's pods are different and are definitely not the same ones from the pictures, so it could have been say a FUNGAL(agarans are mushrooms) infection that changed the DNA of the pod's seed when it grows and hatches a new race of the same species which would be going onto hodd's comment.
To my actual point, I was thinking that the Agarans would have to have a legitimate reason to hate the Florans other than being racist because I noticed there being Agarans burning Florans in lava and insulting them.

Those fungal pods give me a lot more of a feel that they've been infect post-growth, rather than at the seed level. Whatever floran was growing inside got hijacked and zombified into an Agaran IMO.

That picture doesn't prove that the Agarans are torturing Florans. Secondly, look at the creature coming out of that.

    It has a red head.

    That shows that
1.) The Agarans, though not seen in-game, can have red heads instead of green ones
2.) This isn't even an Agaran being born, it's just Shroom Cattle.

You're right, the art doesn't prove Agarans are torturing florans. The constant association between agarans, lava, and florans kinda does, though.

How are they supposed to reproduce? They are a fungus. Fungi don't have seeds. They grow from airborne spores. If the Floran pods where infected by just those little spores, then every unborn Floran would be born as an Agaran, because the air everywhere is filled with spores.

Also a note, there does not appear to be any gender of Agarans. They all look like males.
Wanna know something else? The Agaran's .npc files show that Agarans are Avians. (Avians just appear to be a placeholder)

How do you know that agaran spores are that common? How do you know that agaran spores can infect things in low concentrations? How do you know agarans actually reproduce through spores, and not by injecting something?

Pretty sure they actually use floran files. If you run into them with a mod race, they use the default floran text to talk to you.

We don't know how they reproduce. I'm just saying that they could do it via spores, because they're fungi. That's how fungi reproduce. There are also fungal growths on the pods. Also, you are absolutely right. They ARE Floran! I sand corrected. :mwahaha:

I was specifically disputing your claim that if they reproduced by spores every floran would be born an agaran because the spores "would be everywhere".

Implying that it isn't some sort of Soul reaping demigod mushroom.

We should probably just surrender while we're still intact.

Again, as I said, Kluex doesn't hang out with Big Ape, and again, as I said, the pyramidguard is completely unused so it's pointless to have a duplicate as a placeholder when you weren't even using the original.

Your infection can go die in a hole because I have better filters than that bullshit could ever get through.

Fungi ARE genderless, so the bottom part makes sense.
And yeah, the spores deal doesn't make sense.

I hate "always alignment evil". The devs haven't given us a single bit of lore regarding non-destructive Agarans, they're focusing on the problems and making it seem like they're all part of the problem. Likewise, the very little Hylotl lore we have now is all focused on Hiraki being a dumbass and screwing someone else over because she can't seem to comprehend that other races are not hylotl. Hiraki single-handedly busted the high command of the Apex Resistance to the Miniknog, stranded at least one Human colony on a planet with no ship to get out (she stole their parts), drove an avian tomb guardian insane because he thought he was hearing a sunborn trying to get out (to be fair she was actually just trying to get out herself), pissed off a massive crapton of Glitch, and generally been a giant ignoramus. That's all we have on the hylotls, and yet, we can play as hylotl. If we can't find exceptions, we can make them instead. Same goes with the ever-destructive Florans: We can play as them. We can make the exceptions.
    The agarans?
Nope. All we're ever getting told about by this dev is how destructive and horrible they are and we can't even create a counterexample.

Additionally, that's a red cap. What else have red caps? Mushroom blocks.

This thing could just be a colonization seed for Agaran settlements.

    1. Probably Greenfinger-patented Mushroom pod is planted
    2. Mushroom grows
    3. Agarans build a house around the grown mushroom
    4. They take down the stem, leaving the mushroom cap as a roof
4a. Sidenote, the cap usually makes the spores. Perhaps reproduction
    5. Agarans conquer territory if necessary, to expand their settlements
    6. Rinse and repeat / plant more depending on population / world domination?

You need to take a few deep breathes.

You want a non-creepy agaran? Make a floran, kill an agaran, put their head on, and then RP as an agaran.

It's interesting that so many think that agarans are the infection, corrupting the floran pods. Could it be the other way around? We already have murderous plant people and medieval robots, what stops Chucklefish going for the most obvious solution this time? They can be watching us, chuckling at our miserable attempts to solve the mystery, waiting for us to fall into their diabolical trap of lore and dubious hints. IT'S A TR- Or maybe not, but I'd expect anything.

Greenfinger has been messing with floran DNA, related to the secret of the floran race. What if he has modified the floran DNA with agaran DNA? Somehow agarans have found this out, so they would have a legitimate reason to be pissed.

Along those lines, having the Floran Secret being that they're just genetically modified Agarans would be quite a twist.
