Has anyone mentioned the possibility that Agarans are actually agents of Greenfinger and are assisting in the spreading of Florans, as opposed to their own kind, and likewise selecting some florans to become more Agarans? Just curious.

I thought that was a moustache. I'm p sure it was a moustache when the object was first added, and Human players when observing the OBEY posters will say they want to draw a moustache on it...

I prefer to think of it as like the internet: Sure, you COULD fly down to Ukraine and witness the destruction unfold yourself (or walk down to your local general store and ask the horseback letter courier what's up with it), but why do that when using the internet is so much faster?

That screenshot doesn't even remotely imply evil. It's just a broken-down building with Mushroom Babies in there.
When mushrooms do that in real life, it's called Reproduction.
Plus they gave Big Ape a tophat and lipstick. How is that evil?

 

The Glitch will say that that the pods are of Floran origin when examined. These are called Fungal Pods. I think that the Apex Scientists could have been experimenting with the Floran pods, but found that exposure to fungal growth gives the offspring a mushroom-like composition.

According to the translations, (Which may not be at all accurate) the Agarans are laid back when they converse with Floran. And, much like their savage counterparts, the Agarans seem to show signs of aggression to the Hylotl.
Referring to my previous idea...

The Floran seems scared. Perhaps, if this theory is correct, the Floran did not know their own origins. They believed that the pods where Floran, with evil things inside. I also noticed that the Agarans don't attack you when you approach them in this breeding ground.


Plus, I found out that the strange pot structures where called "Shroom Camps" in the game files. This may insist that the Agarans are bringing the Florans to somewhere. And, when the Agarans are alone, they are likely just traveling. I personally think that the Agarans are bringing the Florans to their villages. It is there that there are outrageous amounts of mushroom-based life. It is probably here that they either convert the Florans to Agarans, or use them for some other unknown purpose.

 

Given that there's at least one other species with a "camp" that's basically just a couple of merchants hanging out, I'm guessing it's more or less a semipermanent residence, but w/e.

I'm rather interested in that one, it's very similar to a specific moment in 1984 where the main character realizes he's written "down with big brother" in his illegally-purchased diary over and over without even realizing it, and when later his extremely patriotic neighbor is arrested when his daughter catches him saying the same thing in his sleep.

 

...yikes.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. They have a pronounced enmity with Florans, and possibly Hylotl. That's no different than how the Florans themselves gleefully admit to eating people and killing Hylotl, or how the Glitch lobotomize and hunt down exiles, and how Avians have their whole "throw yourself off a tower to prove you love your god" thing.

Agarans... don't seem all that hostile, so far. Unless you're a Floran. In which case they will torture you and apparently infect your "babies" with spores that twist them into more Agarans.

 

Could the phrase "nab cloudchaser" mean "Grounded" in reference to what type of Avian?

 

The shroomies were quite nice to me, let me borrow their water fixture.

 

Again as i said, they could be genetically engineered hybrids, you've just proven that its a 3 way hybrid (apex,glitch,avian).
And again, this could simply been duplicated because they haven't had enough time to implement their lore and have used it as a filler, it would explain why the quotes are almost exactly the same.
The only people who can confirm these theories are the devs, and due to the fact that the game is in beta, the files can be unreliable.

 

All the NPC species are just normal species in special costumes. The bunny-people are dressed-up Apex, the Agarans are dressed-up Florans, and the pyramid guards are dressed-up Avians. Its probably a time-saver rather than anything actually fluff-relevant.

Except maybe with the Agarans.

 

cant confirm this, but I'm pretty sure the agaran have their own skin, its just their armor and weapons are from other races.

 

^This. Also, I like to think of looking into the game files as looking at the answerer key to a test before the questions have even been decided upon.

Anxiety. It appears that the turning Florans and Floran Pods into Agarans was correct. Perhaps we have been correct in the spores theory as well, and my post about the mushroom lamp appears to prove they have some parasitic abilities.

 

This stuff's getting pretty damn heavy.

 

Do we know that those fungal pods have anything to do with Floran? I have only seem them in regards to Agarans.

Additionally maybe Florans and Agarans are just the same race genetically. Environmental causes determine what type they are born as from the pod. Floran or Agaran and which type of Agaran, etc....
