If that is correct, then we must find a way to stop and cure the virus. Perhaps they are friendly after all...

That's it! The spore must have been the result of experimentation by either Greenfinger or the Apex! They infect the host, and then take control of the body completely. We must develop a cure! We can't kill them, we need to SAVE them!

If we are correct then it wouldn't be a virus. It would be a parasite. Significantly harder to deal with.

At first it seemed far fetched that the Apex would have anything to do with this.

But then I remembered the picture of the Agaran controlled Apex lab.

Maybe the Apex have something to do with this afterall?

Yeah, some part of me still doubts that Greenfinger would do this to his own species, the Apex seems more likely.

Maybe The Aragon is actually an apex experiment gone wrong and is turning the apex into those things! Or maybe, Big Ape is intentionally turning them into Aragons!

They may have been experimenting for a cure to the Ape Flu.

Maybe the Aragans where a very old species of plant bipeds. The caccons in the above picture could be their normal eggs. The Aragans where sticking around to feed it genes through their spores. But maybe when this was happening, the Aragans where killed and the fungal growth of the child died. When the egg opened, the non-fungal form of an Aragan came out, and was called a Floran. The adsence of the fungus left the brain without the ability to think rationally, and it became savage. Whenever the Aragans find once, they contain it and let their fungal spores attack to them so that the Floran will be Aragan again.

There's a set of unused codex entries in which Doctor Lax of the Apex geneticists works with Floran DNA and is an old friend of Greenfinger's, but when she finds out something shocking about the florans, Greenfinger has to hire a hitman to deal with her.
They worked together a lot before.

Anyways, whatever is going on, it's not worth freaking out about. Yall are jumping to a lot of conclusions that don't need to be jumped to.
Seriously, let's keep our hyperactive speculation limited.
Also yeah I found the files for the fungal pods when my pak updated today and got a changelog made and posted in the thread. And the files for the agaranmedical.
Funny thing though, none of the npc files were changed at all.

Wouldnt that mean that floran are essentially just brainless aragons? Also fungi and plants are entirely different species.

For crying out loud if you're going to rant about them at least spell them right.
That goes for the "aragans" guy too.

We aren't really saying, "OH THIS FORSURE IS THE ANSWER" the entire point of this thread is speculation. Honestly, it's really fun speculating.

It's also incredibly problematic if anyone listens and gets the completely wrong idea.
Back before the lore was nailed down, the avians were considered to blame for the florans learning interstellar flight, they assimilated tech and all this weird stuff.
I still have to correct people who didn't realize they retconned that out.

I can't disagree with you there. But like I said, people need to understand the point of this thread is SPECULATION.

Perturbed. This unit encountered Agarans on another world. Two groups. One was near a large Floran statue and some other apparently Floran ruins, the other near one of their glowing mounds.
Concerned. This world had multiple small Floran settlements. It also had a human military facility - records within the facility showed that the humans had no knowledge of the Agaran presence.
Triumphant. This unit exterminated the local Agaran presence and destroyed their mound.
Dismay. During combat some Agaran spores entered this unit's body via a previously undetected micro fracture on cranial area.
Optimism. Effects have yet to manifest. Perhaps Agaran spores cannot damage Glitch syst... *bzzzzzzzzzt*
