What are these 'Hyloth' you speak of?

And if you guys are gonna be Hylotl, at least portray their relationship with other species better.
'Cause it's not just the florans that they hate.

I don't think Hylotl actually hate anything, aren't they supposed to be enlightened as heck?

Whenever a Hylotl PC sees one of the other races' flags, they comment negatively on them.

along the lines of "Oh look, it's the childish _____ flag."

The only evidence against them is that they're taking Floran prisoners. Based on thee unpredictable behavior of the Florans, I'm guessing that the Florans did something to the Aragans (Probably kill a few) and the Aragans struck back by capturing Florans and taking them as prisoners.

    Cloudhopper Weight of the Sky

But why? What could they possibly gain by taking those Florans captive?

Codex entries confirm that Floran DNA is malleable; so malleable, in fact, that the Apex were experimenting on it (with Greenfinger's permission).

Perhaps the Agarans that we see are naturally born Agarans, but they're attempting to mutate and take advantage of the Florans' intelligence.

We don't even know if the Florans ARE prisoners.

There's a chance that both species are benefiting from this symbiosis; the Agarans would get a way to spread their spores/young/eggs/babies/whatever, and the florans would get:

    • A new defense mechanism
    • Increased fear from the other races
    • Something SINISTER and UNKNOWN.

And so, I come to my final conclusion:

Until someone can kidnap one of those... things ...we can't judge 'em.

    Option 1:
They keep Floran prisoner because Floran are dangerous and they are not the type of race to outright kill if they don't have to.

    Option 2:
They are studying or experimenting on the Floran.

    Option 3:
They are going to kill the Floran later or in a special way requiring preparation.

    Crazy Idea:
The true race is the Agaran. Floran are genetic constructs with a base Agaran DNA. Greenfinger stops the experiments on Floran by the Apex because he doesn't want the truth about them to be revealed. Perhaps the truth is that they are not a natural race.

The Agaran typically seem peaceful while the Floran are typically not. I am thinking Firefly planet Miranda here. Floran are Agaran Reavers with hyper increased aggression. Agaran perhaps are mutated into them so that sometimes small groups of Agaran might be aggressive but only because they are turning into Floran. Agaran lock up Floran because they are locking up their comrades who begin to turn. They don't kill them because they are still their loved ones and friends or because they want to try and learn more about it and reverse/prevent it.

"adding these to the unstable version (later stable)" = correct
"turning Agarans into villains" = What makes you think that's what I'm doing? :halo:

They just want a dark damp place to live, they can't help it if they release poisonous spores in order to spread their population.

Obviously they have to fight for their own survival.

The whole pod issue and the menacing statements sure makes it seem like it. Unless you can elaborate further.

Actually, we -the community- made them appear to be menacing, though we don't really know if they are. Apart from infesting apex structures and locking up stabby florans we have no reason to believe they are intentionally transgressing 'the order' of things. Maybe they are just afraid of florans and they feel sorry to grow their pods wherever but can't decide. In such case we would be attacking something we ignore everything about because it's human nature to be afraid of the unknown :D
But hey, maybe they are evil, so either way i'll show no mercy - as they seem to spread fast, nor will i have any regrets :p
I want more trophie heads :p i wish i could display those on the walls of my moon base.
Btw, i noticed that Plant Fibre saplings (the ones with big blue flowers) are unable to grow on moons :( . Only wood saplings will complete growth cicle, can anybody confirm? Sorry for off-topic :s

It actually makes a lot of sense, think about it, you wouldn't have thought that a race that could reverse engineer a space ship would struggle to invent the wheel. They're evolution doesn't make any sense, that leaves you with either 1. agarans where genetically manipulated or 2. Florans are a (zombie style) plague.

I still find it odd that they keep Floran prisoners. What use do they have in keeping a Floran prisoner? It also looks like they're wearing Floran bonesmith armor. My theory is that they were at one point Floran, but somehow mutated into these mushroom people.

In a way I think it would be really cool if we found out about the Agarans solely in-game. Aside from maybe some hints from the developers to point us in the right direction. It could really add exploration, perhaps even add a bit of a mystery to figure out?

Statement: The Florans are aggressive towards meatbags as they see them as food. Clarification: They see meatbags just as meatbags see a vegetable. Musing: Perhaps the Agarans are peaceful as they do not derive substance in the same way that other biologics, even my own kind, do.

Aqua'lin, A Hyolti Missionary, warning the other races about the Argarans:
Fellow Hyolti missionaries and other races.
Today we will be discussing the
    Argarans.
    A race of
    Misunderstood, menacing, malevolent Fungi.

They have shown very little hostilities. It has been noticed that they do seem to imprison the Floran, and infect Apex laboratories.
The Floran, A race of aggressive sentient plant beings , are held hostage for unknown reasons.
    It is doubted that the
Florans would show hostility to the Argarans, a non-anamalia race.

They speak an ancient language which only the most clever of us have managed to decode partially.

A very limited amount of civilized technology has been found on the
Argarans, implying that they do not have access to space travel.
    Yet still, they
spread through the universe at unbelievable rates.

It is asked that you do
NOT- I repeat, friends, Do NOT kill them if you are not forced to do so.
    It is hoped that you
    avoid contact with them entirely.
    They have
shown little hostility, only to certain parties, but for unknown reasons.
It would be appreciated if you
do not aggravate them any further.

We need to study them, and continue discussing our theories, But be careful.
    They are
    likely dangerous.

I do not like the Florans, But we must save them if possible.
My fellow Hyolti may be surprised about what I choose to do about the Florans,
but I believe there are some intelligent beings among them.

    Thank you, Friends.
We will all: Apex, Avian, Human, Glitch; Even Hyolti and Floran; work together for the good of all the races.
We will hopefully continue our research together until we fully understand the
    Argarans as a whole.
