That singing, though...

With a lot of the recent changes, and the topics that go up, I feel like the game/community is getting really.. Idk, "cutesy"?

Whenever I'm on the forums now I feel like I'm on some kind of anime fan forum. A lot of people RPing 24/7 in all of their posts now. It's a little... uncomfortable.

That being said, big fan of the instruments, hate the singing, a lot. Hopefully you can still use the instruments without singing/humming or /we.

The singing is so fantastic and cute, it's definitely a great addition to the game, and there are certainly others that agree! Even in its unfinished state, it oozes charm.

Don't listen to the few naysayers around, this is definitely going to make the game better- as the addition of fun little things like this do. And at the end of the day, the naysayers don't even have to use it if they don't want to.

... Sorry, I couldn't resist! A Vocaloid "You mad?" picture just sums up this kind of post's worth- not much worth at all.

 

I... don't really like it.
There is the savage, tribal floran in it's newly scavenged ship, ready to fly to another planet to wreak havoc, and to get more valuable resources.
*It starts singing very high pitched and derpily*
I mean, I don't mind it. If my friends spam it, then I might mute the game entirely, but really I would simply avoid singing. I just expected more.
I expected the singing wouldn't sound... like... that... and I don't see how it "oozes charm" or how it's "cute" . But this is all my opinion.
I think that each race should sound different, like the people were saying on the front page. Avians could sing similar to birds, Glitches could sound tech-y, humans could vary. And I support the idea of choosing how it sounds, but that is a bit TOO detailed, and might not be in. A mod, though, might. You never know
But, of course, if this is how it's going to be, very high pitched and... horrifying, so be it. I just will avoid it. Problem = fixed.

I think the glitch should sing like dubstep.

 

It definitely needs work, but I like it. Just a couple weeks ago instruments sounded kinda bad, and now they're great.

 

If you have just a tiny spark of musicality in you, you know that all that vocaloid crap is an insult to music. I'm glad that Händel and Bach didn't had to listen to that.

 

Wow, physically sick? Be sure to get plenty of rest. We can only hope that your daily endeavors aren't as strenuous as this. Rejection at a job interview or spilling your beverage might be a fatal event for you. Please keep us posted...

 

Yes. Right now we can't really know if that IS how they will finally sound of if it is just them using what of the voice that have now to show it off. Tiy seemed to enjoy how it sounds so likely even if that is not the final voice he wanted to show it off cause he found it cute.

 

Vomit inducing. I'm not kidding, my stomach hurts if I listen to it. It's like someone is punching your stomach right after a meal.

You could say that about any genre of music, including rock, metal, punk, techno, pop, etc. when drawing comparison to the classical arts.. But even still, it doesn't invalidate what is or is not considered music, though. And besides, while Vocaloid is almost exclusively used in music, one could argue it's more of a text-to-speech tool than a musical one, negating the comparison to the classical artists in the first place..

 

That is such a wrong statement you have no idea... there are so many Vocaloid songs that are amazing, jesus their voice is great. It's stupid to say artists from another genre would despise another interesting genre. So they would be caring of Rap then? What about Dubstep? I doubt it. Your opinion is fine, but calling all vocaloid crap is just silly and ignorant.

Did you forget the part where this game is MULTIPLAYER, if one chooses? I don't want to run into horrible pixie voices that dampen the experience when I'm on a server. It will happen.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. Seriously, it's getting ridiculous. Why is Tiy allowing this into the game? It totally throws the personality of the game out the window, it's such a bad idea.

This. I kept replaying the video over and over, it was mesmerizing.

 

First off, I would assume that most games like, and including, Starbound such as Terraria, Minecraft, CubeWorld, etc.. that you would be playing with friends, who I would assume wouldn't want to be annoying to their, well, friend.

But even if not, wow, you've never experienced griefing before? Never on an online first-personoshooter? Or in an MMO? Heck, not even in Minecraft?
Have you ever played Minecraft online and build up a house, leave to go questing with your buddy, only to come home and find out that someone come running in and "scavenge" your home for spare wood planks, leaving a giant hole in your house, and put a giant a pig monument in it's place?
That's the same basic principle: There will always be people out there that will find ways annoy you, if not one way, another. I see no reason to be upset with the fun that other people might get out of the added feature, when you can just as easily avoid it, just as much as you can avoid stupid jerks that will come in and wreck your buildings.

 

Did you forget the part where this is "massively WIP and can sound a little odd at times" aka an early, absolutely unfinished, not even alpha version of the singing? Instead of constantly whining over how ruined the game will be by this miniscule part of it, you could use all that time an effort in providing some constructive feedback, explaining calmly the reasons why you don't like it, and what changes would you like to see, while keeping in mind that, as Tiy said, it's a work in progress and just showed it to us because it sounds funny.
