The Tesla Coil is an Item that can be placed to protect your home. It shoots electricity at enemies that come within your radius. the electricity can even bounce from enemy to enemy dealing lots of damage! however it does take a good amount of electricity, luckily we have awesome space technology that does scientific things and makes electricity do stuff in air currents, so it wouldn't take a EXTREME amount of electricity, and the tesla coil can be wired up to larger power sources so you don't have to manually put in batteries. Would it attack other players though? Also, how would it be powered? Would you have to power it with batteries, or wire it to a larger power source? This would be a great improvement to lava moats in terms of house defense.
Except automatic turrets use bullets. Bullets aren't renewable like energy. Therefore, Tesla Coils > Turrets
Again though, Tesla Coils use ridiculous amounts of energy in atmosphere. However, in space or a vacuum...
Or you could just use your weather control station to repeatedly create lightning strikes, which you would then harness for your Tesla Coil.
We're talking about a game about space with pretty much limitless possibilities Speculation is futile The whole atmosphere dealie seems like it would happen though
Also, since it's, you know, the future and all, there's advanced technology. Maybe they figured out a way to make them require less energy.
The issue is that it takes a lot of energy to create an electrical arc in air, also, how do you create a circuit with the target?
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." -Arthur Clarke HOWEVER, that does not make it magic "Any technology, no matter how primitive, is magic to those who don't understand it." -Florence Ambrose Why?, because to cavemen, guns are magic, but are they??
So basically, if the Tesla Coil worked "magically", then it would seem like magic to us, but be simple for the aliens who made it?
