I hope there are some easter potatoes in the game, even if it's just like, a description of the potato or something. It would be cool to have even slightly influenced something in a game.

Again with this "will be." Your perfect game doesn't exist, and God only knows when it will exist (if ever). Terraria does exist, and has far more features and polish than Starbound. Basing your rating of Starbound on what CF tells you will happen someday is, frankly, ridiculous.

    Starbound has

    Better music
    Better lighting
    Flashlights
    Various (skin-deep differences) Races
    ermm.. umm..

That's about if for now, but we'll wait and see what else comes.

Also, what gives you the right to post this with nary a potato reference in your post?

Another thing... Starbound is slightly accessible, and easier to mod than Terraria, Brotatoes!

I'm sitting here trying to think of a single song in Starbound and coming up blank. Probably because in Starbound music is just a thing that happens, whereas in Terraria it fits the location or scenario. Point: Terraria.

    Point: Terraria.

I'll give you this one. However, I'll also point out that Terraria has glowsticks which I feel are sorely needed here. If they do exist here, then they need to be more easily accessible. Point: Draw.

I can paint myself green in Terraria and have the same effect.

The fact of the matter is that Terraria has more CONTENT. Starbound has AREAS. Sure, we've got a mind-boggling number of potential randomly-generated planets, but each one is a wasteland with nothing to do. The towns are packed with NPCs but still manage to feel barren because there is NOTHING of consequence in them. Not to mention, what are you going to remember more: A fire-element sword with a random name you found on some planet, or a shark fused with a minigun you fought long and hard to craft? Terraria has crazy things to discover. Starbound has "Welp, it's a desert planet. Neat."

I have to say, potato isn't all it's cracked up to be. I played for about 3 or 4 days straight before getting bored and purchasing potato 2.

But seriously, I think that both games have thier pros and cons. Terraria, while having tons of consistency, can get boring towards the end of the game when you've become too powerful. Starbound, on the other hand, has towns and many different dungeons to discover, as well as lore and different races. What Starbound lacks, however, is that level of consistency Terraria has achieved. For example, today I landed on what claimed to be a jungle planet, however it was covered in snow. Also, I like how Terraria doesn't have too many weaons. With the exeption of some basic weapons, you can't find weapons in chests at all. You have to craft (or buy) all of your weapons, which proves to be quite a challenge as you progress through the game.
Anyway, that's all I have to say. Also, I can't wait for potato 3!

Can't wait for my Potato's Trip 3: Unwashed, Unfried, Unstripped. It says to cover the whole Tokyo this time, more weapons than Starbound, and get to peel a lot of potatos of various nationalities. Also, one of the potatoes will be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal (Courier from Fallout / Sasuke of Naruto), Steven Ogg (TREVOR of GTA V), and Mollygos herself!

Well if you like Terraria that much what are you doing on the CF Forum then? (Strange)

Don't missunderstand me, no offence intended, just wondering why this thread actually was started but for "fun"... Terraria is finished and starbound is in Beta...
I said that before and its only my personal opinion, but terraria looks like a cheap knock of from Starbound... if you like it is your taste!

Its all about taste so don't talk about better and if someone tells you his is better ignore him. Statements like that are always non objective, so they won't help anyone!
Before you talk about Terraria having more content you really should check out the modder section first, try and get yourself the best Weapons from Fracking Flora for example and then come back here and post your complaints.

One last time (Terraria:finished, polishing in the work \ Starbound: Beta, basics are being balanced)
    See the difference?^^

Also remember how long Terraria was dead.
before the big patch that came after a long time (how long was it? two years?), Terraria had not much to do. It was at its end pretty quickly.
You could compare that to the current Starbound. It has a lot of potential BUT its simply not there yet.
Still, they are both very different games. Terraria is more the action-aspect (sure there are also some great builders there), but Starbound is more in the (unfinished) Sandbox aspect.
So comparing these two from a gameplay view does not make much sense (its always the same with the voxel games...Minecraft clone, Terraria clone, Cubeworld clone...)
But from a developement view they are similar.

Cannot disagree with what you said, apart from the music. Terraria's underground mario beep-bop is just annoying. The music in SB is superior. I have yet to hear anyone saying otherwise (until you posted lol).

I don't count posting a lol-esque youtube video as a rebuttal to Starbound lighting being better than Terraria. Also placing background blocks in SB is handled better.

Terraria is good, but let's not get all nostalgic for boring grind to boss, to grind to next boss etc..

Hoping that this game does not keep turning to that game as a reference. Be your own man / woman / alien race etc..

And do away with open flames on a pressurized spaceship, please?

The best use for flames is closely-underneath a potato. Or, even better, underneath multiple potatoes! That, and the recent snowstorm puts me in a mood for holiday carols: Potatoes roasting, on an open fire! Jack Spud nipping at your toes...

The majority of people picking potato makes a good argument that the community knows not to bet on Starbound when it comes to updates....too bad really.

Personally I have turned to Chips (Superior British version) to comfort eat my way out of lack-of-stable-update depression.

I hope our Chucklefriends hurry up before my burgeoning belly EXPLODES into potato dominated giblets.
