Temple/Tomb of The Frog

I looked around and didn't really see a thread going about this soo... Anyone else find a Frog Merchant in their own private temple/tomb thing?

Not kidding, actual Frog Merchant. Couldn't shoot it but yeah, Frog Merchant. Good way to buy Bombs and Pickaxes on the cheap. About 150pix per 15 bombs I think, I forgot to grab a screenshot of the items while I was there and I'm too deep in the planet now to get a screenshot.



Edit: managed to climb back up a ways for more bombs to mine and got the screenshot of their shop.



Once again, bombs on the cheap.

They were also near what looked like already explored territory with tons upon tons of Oil Lamps and Hay Piles



Would have just got the item card but that's difficult on a mac, it seems.

The exact place you should start digging for a hay pile bed and bombs are the cheap is a biiiit muddled for me but it was under a mine that you can get to from just heading to the left.

I've encountered some of these too. They are pretty creepy places, but full of ores.

Also, what's up with your character? I believe it's a race mod, but just wondering.

 

A forest biome, if I'm remembering correctly.

 

You would be correct at thinking it's a race mod. In particular it's the the Novakid+ mod because I was waaay too impatient to wait for the ability to play as a sentient star.... child.... thing.

Nice find. I haven't found one myself yet, but that's probably because I don't really tend to mine underground beyond the beta sector.

 

Could someone please tell me what is the "point" of that frog merchant?
Is that a cameo from somewhere? Or is he there just because =P?

 

What came to my mind was Spirited Away.

 

Maybe they have connections with the Florans? They do kinda share the bone and cloth motif that Florans sport.

duuuude, post some coordinates or a screenshot of the planet selected on the starmap. the original coordinates are from early january, almost 2months old now.. which is a couple patches ago, so they aren't working. Or u can post them in the coordinates megathread.

I've seen these before, pretty cool.

 

They're just a miscellaneous little race that Chucklefish has no apparent plans to do anything with. He's not even an NPC, he's an object, like a torch or a chair, that's been skinned to look like an NPC.

I like them. I'm actually working on a mod that makes them a playable race. I call them the Froadl.

 

oh, I'm quite sure CF will do a lot more with these guys.

nah, and I think this is built on a grasslands, where the natural rain pools up more often. Also, it's amazing how the entire thing is encased in glass shaped like... a mortar and pestle? or just some type of alchemical bottle from some archaic version of Breaking Bad
