Medication for depression still has a long road ahead of it. It varies for different people. For some Medication is a god-send and for others it makes their depression even worse.
Now I haven't taken Medication myself but I've certainly considered it. Currently I am very sick which isn't ideal because I'm still desperately looking for a job. Each day is harder to get through which is disappointing
I feel disappointed in myself every time I'm not drawing or out looking for a job. But I can't help being sick, I just recently learned I may have something quite err permanent. Now I don't want to get too specific here in public but
at least it's treatable. I just don't know how I'm going to tell the family without getting kicked out of the house, again.

    Yeah...

    EDIT:

Honestly, I don't know what else to add other than acknowledgement of that fact. He has said himself that he is still not well, maybe he wasn't ready. Give it time -- we might see him come back when he is in a better state of mind.

He will he just needs some time off the forums. The internet is a great distraction when theres issues in your life but it's also a distraction from your life
Hopefully TvK is trying his best to improve his life. I know we've all suffered periods in our lives where it felt like life has just been beating us down more and more and more.
It takes a level of maturity to realize that some of the things that happen to us are above our control. We didn't choose to have depression or not get that job e wanted. We're not at fault for not being a little taller or not being born the gender we feel.
It just takes time for things to play out, I consider time as a sort of dominoe effect but instead of one straight life of dominoes there's tones of lines are intersecting with others.
Before we die some of those liens of dominoes might not even fall.

What do you guys think about Shyness, Aspergers, Autism, etc?

When I was much younger I was often called "shy" due to the fact that I wasn't very social-able or had any friends. To me this meant it was something that I could overcome or that it wasn't something very big/ there wasn't anything really wrong with me.

As I got older, I others become more weary/questionable.

Closer to my own age, they decided to declare me of having "autism" or "aspergers". To them this meant that there was something wrong with me, that there was something I couldn't overcome or outgrow. I was beginning to be viewed as a lesser being, as evidenced being separated from others (which of course would naturally further the problem), others being told (not asked, told) to talk to me in specific ways, trying to get me to take specific medicines, etc. Eventually what happened I reached my tipping point and become so enraged and so furious by this I decided to fight back. However, I wasn't a violent primate, so I did what they would least expected, I spoke out against them and their behaviors towards me. In short a number of those in charge got in some pretty serious trouble (for example, one "doctor" was fired).
It's a shame that it took anger for me open my mouth more than I usually do, and every since I have been more vocal than ever.

What really ticked me off was that these "professionals" tried to "fix me", make me more "human", through artificial ways. Most, not all, but most psychologists, and in general doctors have tended to view what they learned as more of a game than anything else, not even paying any attention to the patient. Is it really that hard for people to just care these days?

I ask this question because lately I've been noticing a lot more people talk about "Autism", and what's to blame for it, anything from the foods we eat to the pesticides. If you ask me, it's just lazy parenting and a rather anti-social society.

Autism isn't really even a thing, it seems. As though it's more just learning your fundamental processes in a different order.

I read sometime ago, don't know where (google didn't help), a quote saying "Humanity despises those who are different".
Maybe they label anything what they don't understand "different", and don't even try to understand (see above quote)? I don't really know, but maybe they label many things as "abnormal" just because it's different from some nonsensical average or different from what their experiences told them is normal (christians being endoctrinated that gay marriage is bad (had no other example right now) without any logical base)? Maybe stuff will change in the future, with the averages, who knows.

Sadly this is the truth, though, i do too hope this might change with the time, since people can inform themselves easier than ever, and connect to others easier than before.
Though, considering my past experiences with humans, i often doubt this will happen. Even when people can inform themselves, or have a chance of learning something, many just seem to shut off, because, who the heck knows.. I once tried to explain my former boss some of my problems, because these problems were directly interfering with my ability to do my work, just so he could understand it and prevent from "triggering" certain behaviours or stuff.
He *instantly* seemed to block off everything, switch the topic, etc, even though he usually was a really good person i enjoyed working for.
Sometimes it feels humans "fear" differences :/

Yeah, that tends to hapen quite a lot to Aspergers, believe me.

Yeah, most "Doctors" and "Therapists" got absolutely no idea what the hell they are speaking,as Aspergers is a it of a complicated thing.

Aspergers and Autism arent fixable, tthey afect your personality aswell, your way of though,it cant be fixed as it isnt a problem, you see,but many dont understan that.

When they atempt to "Fix" Aspergers and Autists, its mostly to keep them in line and obeying the laws of society, many times by druging us till we are zombies and making us go to bullshit counseling sesions ans such beacuse we have that.

Still remeber a adoctor that atempted to test and enhance my I.K.,yeah.

Nope, not joking,my I.K.,my mother and I fliped Apesh*t on how she was even alowed to work and were bafled when we actualy comproved she had specialized in the area."Doctors"

People whom have Aspergers have problems having direct eye contact, have a much greater sensitivity to smells, noises and textures, normaly are shy and socialy aanxious and so on,so its kinda undertandable how they would relate your Shyness in previous times with the Aspergers you curently have.

Autism is genetic(and Aspergers is within the spectrum of Autism),dont, for the love of Gwyn and Dark Souls, believe in any bullshit about foods, vacines or ny other stupid sh*t,it has a genetic component and no foods deliberatly fuck up yer genome, just so we are clear!

Society in whole is dumb, idiotic, with no desire to learn or to comprehend.Hence why we have billion and billions spent of a stadium for a bunch of overpaye sportsmen to pretend to be hurt when all dem billions could be spent in anything better.

Food,Water, making some decent houses, fixig up the ridiculous criminality over by Brazil, just a few.

Cheer up man and FFS stand up,nothing beats a pissed of Asperger!

Thats a general problem. Doctors trying to "fix" personality traits, or stuff that doesnt need "fixing".
I wouldnt go as far as condemning everything doctors and other people in this field do, because my counselor/caretaker (dunno the word) really did help me a lot, and still does.
However, many of these people at least need to respect their patients, and stop force-treating stuff that isnt even remotely a problem to you, nor harmful to you or others.

Lets keep the tinfoil hats tucked away somewhere safe.

Society is no monster that is as a whole, dumb, idiotic or bad in any way. That's at best a skewed perception of the world, the good heavily outweighs the bad -- it always has, the bad is just louder, more noticeable. It is EASY to oversimplify incredibly complex issues, lets not do it here. That's not what this thread was meant for.

    Just one word.

Wonderfull. Can confirm everything... closely related person has a strong form of autism. And theres nothing to fix it. Just how to work with said person.

I think some basic philosophy would help a lot of these societal problems.

I'm a Christian, and I think gay marriage is wrong for both religious purposes, and scientific, but yet OK for societal reasons. I would partially counter that some people are being indoctrinated into believing that homosexuality is the same as those of different color, when sex VS skin is different. I ask people why is the whole same-sex marriage thing even being brought up NOW and not in the past, and most wouldn't answer or say that same-sex marriage is normal when it really isn't procreationally. The same thing can be applied to vegans, why are they are even around in larger numbers in comparison to the past? It's because technology and population growth has allowed for both of these "practices" to even come into rational existence. With Sperm-donors, adoption, over-population coming into question, Vitamin B12, etc, things have changed.

As a Christian, I believe same-sex marriage is a sin.
Biologically, I believe that homosexuality is possibly some form of "defect", "mental illness", etc.
However, in society, it doesn't even matter biologically, as it doesn't hurt anyone, it doesn't hinder an overall picture, etc because of other reasons stated above.

The problem I see is that some people seem to lack the ability to "tolerate", and some people are simply close-minded about a number of things. When I talk about "close-minded", I am particularly referring to a number of activists who do not want to believe otherwise. Often when I talk with activists, they tend to attack me in rather irrational manners when I am one of the people trying to SUPPORT THEIR CAUSE! It's like for someone, unless I believe EXACTLY what they believe in, I am against them.

I feel that some people need to learn a few things:
    1) There are more important things in life than being right.
    2) Learn to tolerate.
    3) "Hate the sin, but love the sinner", big emphasis on the Love part.
    4) Being willing to both accept truths, and learn to be willing to help others by telling the truth.
    5) It is better to give than to receive.

Some of these things may be very old, and some of them you have been told while in Kindergarten, but I find that even as adults they still hold great meaning.

I am homosexual and I don't particularly believe in the premise of same sex marriage either, not that I have anything against it of course. I just don't agree with the way it is sensationalized, we also don't really need it, there was other systems in place to allow same sex couples to gain a "greater bond" beyond acknowledgement of the fact.
I am also Christian and it is just about loving your fellow human. However, I also think there is a lot of misinterpretation to be made in a text that is very old, and I don't think it ever really references anything resembling homosexuality beyond, maybe, maybe -- Leviticus. I would like to know where you are at least drawing that from for clarity, of course.

A funny thing about many species in the animal kingdom is that homosexuality and homosexual acts are utilized as a social advantage, but, I am not even going to get in to that discussion.

    Just for good measure:

Well,im preety sure that if they start quoting Leveticus and such, and start saying Gay Mariage is illegal or imoral, just for comon knowledge, they would also have to arrest Shaving,Having two pieces of clothing that werent originated from the same thread,Sex before marriage,Bad gossiping and slander, any kind of feeling of revenge, the cross breading of animals, tatoos and permanetly seling land.

So,yeah, its kinda dumb to enforce that kind fo law in my opinion when you would need to use all the others, and that woudnt work so well, just saying.
