Nope, they could easily get something to get rid of the lice, but none of them want to have to spend multiple hours afterwards trying to get the eggs out.
And they should know that they don't jump, but I guess they just forgot because they're so scared of getting lice

I just don't get it. Even if my son was 40, I would do it for him. Wouldn't matter how long his hair was. It's called unconditional love and being a parent. Hell, even if it were fleas, I'd do it.

Just come over and I'll do it for you.

Unless you live in Canada, I doubt I could come over to have you do it [IMG]

'Lice aren't dangerous and they don't spread disease, but they are contagious, annoying, and sometimes hard to get rid of'
    passage taken from here: http://kidshealth.org/en/parents/head-lice.html

No need to take drastic measures. Even if they catch it, it wil be a mild annoyance at worst. It's not the second coming of the black plague, ffs...

They need to understand that, maybe then you can treat it properly.

you can tell your mom that my mom managed to get rid of the lice she got while we were travelling and she had dreadlocks... without cutting them off. your hair can be brushed which means you can use the lice combs which pull the eggs out. it's a bit tedious but effective. if they're rly worried then you can just use the shampoo for a couple weeks straight. more important than cutting your hair off is de-licing all your house stuff. your bedding, pillows, towels, any clothes you've worn that could have come into contact with other clothes, carpet if you have it, etc.

I've always told my son, his best friend and my sort-of adopted daughter...Hugs are free and unlimited.
I wish I could give you one in person.

I don't think I have ever seen dreadlocks on a woman. That would be unique and cool. How brave she must be to go 'out of the box' and try the unique.

This reminded me of a time I used a full on afro. It was the one time where a woman came on to me. It was a forty-something years old, coworker of mothers, and her compliment was "you looked like a girl from behind". Mother later informed me she was a lesbian...

I thought those went out with the 70's. Actually, I'm glad they went out with the 70's. That, and disco.

This made me grin, back when I was a bit younger I used to have my hair in dreadlocks of all different colours, they were essentially extensions I had them made in London and shipped and then added at the hairdressers, apple green, and lime, magenta, pale pink, and even glow in the dark and pieces of thin tubing. I wouldn't say I was "brave", more individual. If opinions of my neighbours and parents were anything to go by, "stupid" was also an accurate term. Nowadays my hair is a pale silver with some kind of lilac tone, it's natural, down to some kind of pigment lack. Yet for many years I dyed it as people running around to see if I had pink eyes was vaguely annoying, now I'm too mature to let anything like that bother me :).

This isn't a problem per see, but I could use a bit of advice.

I am getting another motorcycle. This time, a Custom like I always wanted.
The problem is, there are two models I could get. One is a Virago 250 (there is a better model, the 535 S but I didn't like the green color). It's an Yamaha so I know it is robust, and it has a V-engine. But it is a relic from 2000-2001 (cool, but I don't have that much money for repairs should it need it). On the other hand, there is a local manufacturer that makes custom motorcycles for a more accessible price. It is a single piston engine and the sound it makes isn't as satisfying, but I can buy it brand new and it is also a 250cc bike. It is called Horizon 250.

So, old but gold or an unknown brand new motorcycle?

Look, I was young and needed the money didn't know what to do about my curly hair.
    Today? I'm no longer young...
Oh? A natural silver? That's interesting.
The only silver-haired (real life) girl I ever saw was in my workplace. But it looks dyed because the root is of a black tone.

First, you want to weigh the pro's and con's.
I don't know anything about the country in which you live. Do you need a heavier, sturdier bike? Which one is easier to get parts for? (like oil filter, plugs). Also, the Yamaha (or at least mine was) is a twin engine with two carbs. It is a powerful engine. Does your insurance charge more for one than the other, or do you even have insurance? Is it worth saving your money at this time to get a bigger bike, if you want one? Do you need a special licence for a bigger bike? (In the States, anything over 250cc needs one). How long has each been making motorcycles and do they know what they are doing? Can you sit and hold both for a long time with no problem?
Once you've gone over all the pros/cons, then you decide on the looks of the thing. My Virago had mini apes, which made riding much easier on my back and legs. (things like that).
Check them out and don't let your emotion decide. This is a big decision. If either is so light you are going to drop it, this could be your life at stake.
Good luck and let us know which you choose.

    Thanks for the insight.
If we're going by needs then I should just stick with my current one. All others I've mentioned are equivalent to it. It is relatively new (I'm the first owner, bought it in 2015), it is a Yamaha, so maintenance is easy enough around these parts. This is purely a matter of taste, really. This other manufacturer is also a national one here, so I'd guess their factories are located on brazillain soil, which makes getting parts and such easy too. It's just that I don't know much about the brand or the motorcycle itself, although online reviews sung it's praises. It's not much use asking you folks about it because I figure it doesn't exist outside of Brazil.
As for licenses, I don't need a special one for it as far as I know. All motorized two-wheeled vehicles, from a scooter to a Harley Davidson, fall under license category A, which I already have. Besides, both models I'm eyeing are 250cc, just like the one I have (It's a Fazer 250) so even in the US I wouldn't need one. I am exchanging six for a half-dozen. Except the half-dozen is much, much sexier.
I'll let you know once I visit the store and make a decision.

    -edit-
If the Virago were newer, I'd choose it over the Horizon in a heartbeat. It has a twin-engine as well, albeit being a 250cc, and comes with a sissy bar. But a 2001 motorcycle worries me...

My roots are a slightly darker purpley toned grey, I am informed by my friend here that I look like a rabbit he used to have, most little girls come and ask me if I am Elsa. This always amuses me as I have a short asymmetric pixie cut which is a little too punky for Elsa. I was born with the silver grey streaks in dark brown hair but as I got older the silver just took over, I have dyed it for many years to try to be more conformist, but this year at £45 pounds ever eight weeks it was getting a little wearing....

The strange thing is before my Mum passed she used to wash her net curtains in a product called "biotex" it was blue coloured and used to make them really bright. I have found I have to use a shampoo that does the same thing as such pale hair is prone to yellowing from pollution and general dirt. (grins)

My hair is exactly like that. I think it's the Indian blood, my mom's hair is the same.
And I earned every single one of those grey/silver hairs.

Did yours go silver when you were seven?, I used to read books about gibbons because they were primates whose pelts changed colour, I know strange. My Mum used to dye it with wash in wash out dyes as people used to ask if I was an albino. I'm not my eyes are a really light blue/grey, and I am very pale but not really absence of pigment just lack of. Now I have to say it's easier to tell people it's dyed as people associate loss of pigment with maturity and I am obviously not old, yet people do so many weird and wonderful things with their hair these days it's hardly strange anymore.

I'm not even gonna pretend I know shit about motorcycles (except I know 250 cc is a pretty small engine comparitivley, I'm used to my dad's 1500 cc vulcan.) However what I do know is that I personally would go with the one I could afford to replace the parts for. You could always do that now and get the better one later when you're in a bit better of a place.

No. Mine is from age, stress and being a parent. It's something about the Indian blood that turns our hair silver instead of gray. It's a really shiny silver, so it doesn't look too bad. For some reason though, some of the roots are still black. It's like it turned silver from the hair and not the roots.

I think both are easily repairable when it come to parts. I know a Yamaha is, I had to repair my current one a few times already and it never stayed longer than a day in the mechanic. The 2001 motorcycle was cheaper, I could pay it in one go. But as I said before, it's a 15 years old vehicle. It's bound to require maintenance sooner rather than later.
As for the other, internet says parts are available too. But custom motorcycles are higher maintenance in general. An expense I was foreseeing and am ready for.

Well, I made my choice. I went for the Horizon. I just hope I don't have bad luck and it begins failing short after purchase. At least my Fazer hadn't any noticeable issues other than those caused by falling down or crashing, of which happened precisely twice, and I've had it for a year now.

The 535 S Virago was a surprisingly close second, though. The color still displeased me, but when I had a closer look personally, I noticed the Punisher skulls painted on it. That almost swayed me...

Look, I am a nerd first and a biker second, ok... >.>

Yeah, I'll move to a 650cc eventually. Then, we'll see...

Rofl, they say that everyone has a doppelganger, and I am fairly sure that such pigment diversity isn't that rare, but I can assure you I am not that girl (grins). I have never worked in an office, up until four years ago I worked for over a decade as a freelance commercial artist and illustrator, and now I am in the midst of a child development and psychology degree. Yeah I am aware, quite a career change but my son was born seven years ago and both him and myself were diagnosed with Autism, that pretty much put a block across my previous plans as I decided professionally I wanted to advocate for children with SEN needs. Gah sorry babbling....
