Yes hello I am guilty here. I can picture him being hetero but just think he's much better suited as being gay. It's not even the muscle men stuff in his locker/book shelf that make me think this, it's largely based on how drastically different his dialogue is in certain heart scenes (8 and 10) depending on the PCs sex. His grandfather's views on same-sex relationships add more reason for him to be possibly repressed.

I know this is already answered, but no, he doesn't even talk about others beyond, "Tell Haley I said 'hi'/'I'm busy.'" However does say this if the PC marries Haley:
"I'll admit... I was a little jealous when you and Haley got married. But, hey... It's a chance for me to learn something new about myself."

Make what you will out of that :p

Broken Glasses - What's up with all the broken glasses in the water? Do they belong to Harvey, Pierre, or Maru? I don't think so! First of all, prescription glasses are very expensive and these people clearly don't have the funds to just toss them every twelve seconds. Secondly...
^ Headcanon: The broken glasses belong to Elliot!! He lives in that dark cabin as a writer, so clearly his poor eyes are strained and he needs a little help in the form of reading glasses. Nbd, right? The thing is, he's terribly vain, I mean, just look at him. He can't let anyone know he wears glasses, not even the doctor, and so he's forced to order a box of disposable reading glasses for discrete deliver. So what happens is, he settles in and dons his glasses for a nice long writing session, then...absentmindedly, as writers tend to be... he leaves his little cabin for some fresh air. So he's hanging out on the bridge to town trying to work out his latest writer's block, when out of the corner of his eye he sees someone walking toward him. That's when he remembers he's wearing glasses!! Quick as a flash the glasses are hurled into the watery abyss and Elliot is there smiling, sunshine glistening from his pearly whites and a twinkle in his unbespectacled eyes.

Rocks Throw at Linus's Tent - I doubt any of the beloved folk of the Valley would ever do something so mean as to throw rocks at Linus's tent! Yet, I also don't take Linus for the lying kind, so someone must have done it. But who!?
^Headcanon: The Witch did it!! You see, her ex cheated on her and it made her very angry and jealous so she wanted to get revenge. As it happens, her ex and Linus are best friends and what better way (to a witch's mind) to get revenge on a cheating man than to bed his best bro. All she had to do was figure out how to pull it off without him recognizing her. So under the cover of darkness she kept trying to get his attention by throwing rocks at his tent, hoping he would come out and see her disguised in a flowy moon-glittery hooded robe but none of her attempts ever worked and eventually she just grew more and more bitter.

Marnie & Lewis - So where does it say that two single adults can't be together or even get married, even if one of them is Mayor? In fact, wouldn't a married mayor seem more like a stable, family man than a bachelor? So, why can't they just come out in the open with their relationship? It says that Lewis was never married, but it doesn't say that about Marnie. And, in fact, why is Marnie not a marriageable candidate?
^Headcanon: Marnie is already married!! She's married to a very respected high-ranking officer in the special-ops forces. This is why we don't talk about him. He's been in the war for so long, but unlike Kent, his position is classified. Everyone in town thinks of him as a hero and keeps his secret in case of enemy spies. This is why she is alone and has to sneak around with Lewis. And though she wants to be with Lewis instead, Lewis knows the villagers would hate him for it and he doesn't want to risk his position as mayor, not to mention what would happen if he husband ever comes back.

My current family includes my guy Storm, Sebastian, son Stone, and daughter Skye is on the way. In my head, Storm and Seb didn't tell anyone they were adopting. They just showed up at Robin's with little Stone after he arrived. Robin was thrilled but Demetrius stepped in it by saying the guys should have "talked to them first" because children are a huge responsibility. He means well, but Seb is furious and it leads to a fight, with Robin stepping in when the baby is frightened. Also, years later a ten year old Stone tricks Pam into taking him to the desert to "buy a gift for Papa" but he actually sneaks into the Skull Cavern instead.

I have 2 different theories on the lovable hermit in the mountains, Linus.

First theory is he is a traveling druid which is why he chooses to live in a tent in the mountains and talks about talking to trees and how nature provides everything

Second, he is the founder of JoJa, being sick of his old life of greed and corporate villainy he left the city, got a new name and started a journey to become one with nature and live a humble life as a hermit.

Golems and Metal-heads are Dwarf constructs, built for digging, heavy lifting, and defense. In the absence of their masters they continue to roam the mines without guidance.

Ah man, I have so many headcanons I don't know where to start  Let's see... I'll start with a few heacanons regarding villager friendships because why not

-Penny was Sam's first friend when he moved into town in their preteens, and for a short time they were best friends. They kind of drifted apart during high school as their interests diverged and they started hanging out with other people more, but as adults they've started becoming closer again. They still don't get to spend quite as much time together as they'd like, but they pretty much consider one another their confidants and will frequently go to one another with any worries they might have. (This actually plays directly into something amusing that happened in my main playthrough -- I happened to get Penny's 8-heart event the day after getting Sam's 10-heart, so I headcanon that he invited her to climb trees together partly so he'd have a chance to panic to her ask for advice on what to say when he poured his heart out to my farmer.)

-Elliot moved to the valley not long after Leah did, and they bonded immediately over both of them being the "new guys" and their similar dreams/pursuits. They do find one another attractive and aren't afraid to admit it, but at the time the game begins they're both too invested in their artistic endeavors to pursue a relationship just yet (plus Leah's still kind of recovering from her bad breakup with Kel).

-I can't remember if this one is already stated/implied in canon or not, but Sandy used to live in Pelican Town before moving to Calico Desert either with her family in her teens or as an adult. She and Emily grew up together and were best friends as kids.

Linus is actually Morris, but from an alternate reality and way into the future.

He comes from a timeline where Joja wins and hollows out the town for resources. Seeing the destruction left in its wake, Morris begins to feel overcome by guilt... the townsfolk leave, gradually searching for a new home instead of the vast barren wasteland their valley has become. It isn't until he realises the impact Joja's "progress" is having on the elderly couple that can't leave town that it hits him how far it's gone. The grass is dying, the wildlife has fled, the air is polluted and the water has become an endless processing plant for hauling fish and minerals.

Stardew Valley is nothing more than an outdoor factory.

However... One resident stays. The Wizard still needs the magic contained in the valley, but even that is dwindling as Joja destroys the town.

He and Morris work out a way to fix things. Morris becomes Linus and goes back in time, he sets up a tent in the mountains and works with the wizard to help encourage the player to restore the community centre and live off the land, so that the valley is never ruined by Joja in the future.

That's why Linus is distrusting of you at first, he's seen what your mistakes will do. He goes on and on about living off nature and the gifts of the earth because he's trying to convince you not to let it happen again. He's acquainted with the wizard because they're both working in tandem to preserve the valley and it's natural and magical qualities.

Every time you sell your soul to Joja, you are seeing this future comes true, and thus causing an infinite time loop that prevents Morris from ever truly overcoming his guilt over destroying the valley and all it's natural wonder.

                                - Abi knows the Wizard is her biological father, and she pretends not to know to make her parents feel better. That's why she spends so much time standing outside the tower.

                                - There is a few Joja factories somewhere upstream. And that's where the broken glasses and CDs come from. Joja illegally dumped industrial waste into the river, and all sorts of crap got washed downstream.

                                - Linus is a failed farmer with zero skills in farming, combat, mining, and fishing. The only thing he can manage is a little bit of foraging. He lives near the mine because that's where he had lost all his tools, and he is too emotionally attached to move on.

                                  Feathered Sparks Big Damn Hero

I was going to wait until a few more comments were posted after mine, but since some time has passed I figure I may as well add in some more. It's time for headcanons, rock band edition!

-As evidenced by canon, Sam is pretty much the "head" of the band -- he does most of the songwriting, is generally the lead singer, and does most of the talking at shows. However, Abigail helps a lot with lyrics and melody and sings pretty frequently, and Sebastian helps with some of the non-verbal aspects of songwriting. If the three of them are good enough friends with the farmer, they'll sometimes bounce ideas off of said farmer as well.
-It is very very difficult to convince Sebastian to sing in any of the songs, to the point where Sam and Abigail have made it a game to try and write lyrics that he'd be interested in. Whenever the two of them are whispering excitedly while scribbling words down, Seb knows that things are about to get either very annoying or surprisingly interesting.
-The band name "The Pelicans" was originally supposed to be a placeholder name. The three couldn't for the life of them find a name that they all agreed on and wasn't already taken by an existing band, and at one point Abigail suggested that they start calling it something straightforward so they had something to refer to other than just "the band" until they came up with a more creative name. But then the placeholder name just sort of stuck. Sam and Abigail find the name endearing, particularly with its amusing backstory, but Sebastian still wishes that the other two had just listened to him and called it "Stardust" dangit.
-Oddly enough, out of the three of them, Sam is the most likely to get stage fright during shows, while Sebastian is the most relaxed. Specifically, Seb finds that he's all right with the crowds as long as he's up on stage and kind of separate from everyone. Abigail finds this apparent switch in personality infinitely amusing.
-Sam actually owns both the guitar and keyboard (he first started learning music through a keyboarding class in high school before picking up guitar), while Abigail owns the drum set. She keeps it at Sam's house both because it's easier for practice and because her parents don't really like her banging on the drums at her house, especially since her room's right next to the store.

I really, really like this one!

My own headcanon / worldbuilding for the monsters:

Slimes will 'eat' everything. It doesn't matter that they can't digest most of what they swallow.

The dust sprites are minor spirits - coal animated by some kind of spiritual energy, seen as they drop it when you 'kill' them. The fuzz they seem to be made of is coal ash and dust. They are playful and curious, but aren't properly sentient. They picked up destroying stones by watching humans and dwarves alike mining - only that they apply that to everything that seems 'interesting'. Like farmers wandering through the ice levels.

I'm totally against killing bats, but those inside the mines and the Skull Cavern aren't normal anymore. By this point they are mutated, highly aggressive, and would pose a danger to the surface if they ever left the mines. They breed more rapidly than mice and are strong enough in groups to even hunt birds of preys that are much larger than one individual bat.

The 'void spirits' you fight aren't real, unlike what Krobus wants you to believe. This is why they are called 'Void Spirits'. They're solid illusions once created by the actual shadow people. First meant as a support for digging, mining and smelting; then as a defense against the dwarves and their technology to cut down on losses in combat and to steal 'back' resources. But the war lasted too long. The magic warped. It now suffuses the very stone, continuously regenerating the illusions which attack everything that is sapient, their creators included. Their original source seems to be the Rare Discs some of them carry - which is why the farmer feels dread when holding one. They sense the corrupted magic.
Krobus doesn't want to admit what the void spirits are, as they now serve as a distraction from where his people are actually hiding. (He occasionally roams the mines - sneaking past Dwarf - and kills some monsters for resources.)

There's a dichotomy between monsters that drop solar essence and those that drop void essence. Solar essence points to a connection to the surface; void essence stems from a natural origin underground.
                                    • The ghosts are the spiritual remains of humans whose bodies were preserved by the icy temperatures in the mine levels 40 - 79. They can't move on, as their bodies keep roaming the halls as skeletons.
                                    • The same goes for the mummies in the Skull Cavern. Entombed, mummified humans whose spirits are trapped in their rotten bodies instead. There might be a curse involved both for them and the ghosts in the mines that 'resurrects' their physical remains continuously. Maybe it was a punishment for mining too much, stealing the land's resources? Like with the purple slimes and iridium in Skull Cavern.
                                    • The squid kids are constructs / monsters introduced by the dwarves, just like the metal-heads. Both monster types drop not only solar essence, but also dwarf scrolls. Their creators came from the stars to Earth, after all. The reason stone constructs drop scrolls, but no solar essence is because they're much simpler in construction.

                                      Dragon Waifu!! I love this!!

Actually...it makes sense!!! She wants to go exploring in the dungeon, but she says she gets "scared" which I have a very hard time believing someone like her would get scared. But, what if she doesn't actually know what "scared" means...what if that feeling she gets when she's near the mines is something deep inside her stirring...like a DRAGON...maybe part of her was cursed by the Wizard's ex witch-wife, or maybe it's the natural product of the whole "my illegitimate dad is a wizard" thing!!

I bet if she were to actually go deep enough in the mines she would then transform into a dragon, doomed to stay there forever and protect the valley by warding off the other monsters...luckily the Farmer came along, became Protector of the Valley and married this secret-dragon instead. I'm hoping true love's kiss can break the curse and I can bring Abby down in the mines with me to go exploring one day.
