We all have them. They could be little things, big things, things that don't really matter, things that change your gameplay... anything. Tell me your headcanons about the world of the game, the characters, or whatevs you want!

I'll start, though this one is more of me having fun with a little unintentional bug:
sometimes when my spouse is outside, he'll be facing the window into the house instead of looking out into the farm as usual. since we have two kids, i like to think he is looking in to make sure they are ok and i think that's adorable

i have some other headcanons that are less in-game and more speculative but i wanna hear what you guys have first!

I usually give my characters backstories and motivations. My second who I am playing right now, Eva, I decided she had parents who wanted all their kids to be high flying corporate types which she wasn't suited for. Grandpa knew a nervous breakdown was in her future, so he left her the farm. And that's why her mother never writes to her and her father only started writing to her after she got featured in the up and coming farm magazine, and neither visit. They're still mad she had the nervous breakdown, quit her job at Joja Corp and decided to be a farmer.

That character also devoted three days a week to gifting everyone for a while. Giving everyone but future husband Elliott (not that she knew that) gifts they loved was too hard, so Eva just used generally liked gifts. She had a crystalarium spit out two earth crystals a day, saved all her foraged flowers and used her crops and artisan goods to make people like her. Somehow she always ended up giving food to the wizard, who'd always say: "Ah, many thanks. This seems to have some interesting properties." So I ended up deciding Eva was trying to remind the wizard that you had to eat as well as study, but it never worked because he kept going: "Wow, look at all the supernatural properties in this jar of mayonnaise! I'd better study it further!"

That wasn't the only story I made up about events in-game. This is what happened in game:

Thursday: Ten heart scene with Elliott.
      Saturday: Proposed to Elliott.
Sunday: Start of new week, so everyone's gift meter reset. I thought jealousy wouldn't start till after the wedding so I gave everyone gifts, then talked to Elliott and discovered it started after the proposal. Hoo boy, did Eva hear all about it. I didn't even know Elliott had a glaring portrait.
Monday: Eight heart scene with Abigail. If you are unfamiliar with it, it is the one in which Abigail's spirit board starts to spell out: "I love E..." then freaks out, throws away the board and kicks the player out.
      Tuesday: Wedding with Elliott.
Wednesday: Abigail knocks on the door to apologise for being weird and say Eva probably knew what it was all about anyway.
I also decided then to stop gifting people except on birthdays as it was getting boring, everybody was really high hearts with me, and I didn't want to accidentally incur a repeat of the Wrath of Elliott.

And this is what I decided really happened:

Eva was completely oblivious that Abigail fell for her. Elliott wasn't, which is why he hurriedly took her on the boat ride to say he didn't consider her a friend anymore and initiate a make out session so intense they attracted the attention of a crimsonfish. This was also why Elliott was furious when he heard she'd been handing out gifts. Abigail hadn't been planning to say anything seeing as she didn't want to break up an engaged couple, which was why she was horrified when the spirit board betrayed her, but got some cold comfort about of Eva knowing after all and came and visited the day after the wedding to try and stay friends. Eva was upset at her complete obliviousness and decided to stop giving out gifts so indiscriminately.

It's really interesting to know other people stories, thats a great idea!

Something happened on my game, at the start of my first gameplay I was walking on the beach picking shells to sell them to the fisherman and saw a rainbow shell, I thought that it would worth lots of money and I went running to sell it when it says the shop is closed. Then I watch how the time just changes to 5pm (when the shop closes) and go away a bit mad when Willy come out the shop. Then I ran to him shouting why he closed and he said "A present? Thanks!". Yeah, he stole my shell :lod:

More things like that happened but I don't remember them now...

Well going with this is the first time I tried befriending Dem...and when I married his step-son lol...he's not as rude and hateful as he could be one starts to notice that standing outside their home, dancing at the saloon and other points not even at all of them is when Robin and Dem spend the most time together. The rest of the time he's just a scientist mostly on his own. Then a young farmer comes always trying to befriend him...his family as well but whatever...and it reminds him of his time as a younger man and almost what could have been. I don't know as I said he has a line and it's big jump from ignoring you or not noticing you because of some random thought...oh and his over protective state in one of Maru's events. Seems like there's room for more there, now he only ignores me in the morning which I suspect is before he's had coffee as he's usually still in the kitchen when he does mmhmm. A crush on his step-son's wife, shame...drama...love it :D I'm odd like that

            Oh what a lovely idea.
            Here I go:

My first farmer Paula was really interested in Shane first, but she gave up trying to win him over too soon to realize that he actually is a nice guy on the inside.
His rude behavior was too much for her to handle.
Instead she got closer to Harvey, but she didn't really consider him marriage material. Then she had a nasty accident in the desert and was saved by Harvey. She'd already thought she was gonna die but then she woke up to his nice face. Then she decided to get to know him better and in the end she noticed that he was just what she was searching for in a guy. It took them quite some time to get together though, because Harvey is 13 years older than her. in my imagination he is 40 and my Paula is 27. (oh I looooove age gaps soooo much, but only when the guy is the older one).
They got married on Paula's third year in SV and Paula was very happy with her life. All that was missing was a child. She'd sometimes feared that Harvey wouldn't want any kids because of their age difference. Then tragedy hit them pretty hard. Paula had 2 misscarriages. (I experienced the no-baby-because-of-a-festival-bug twice). Harvey felt very sorry because he is a doctor and still he couldn't help his wife. They grew distant and Paula spent more and more time in the mines. Then one night Harvey had a breakdown. he told her about his nightmares of her dying in the mines and she realized what she was doing to him and herself. They made up and only a short time later she was pregnant again. This time she only did some light work on the farm or went fishing to not loose this baby too.
In early winter her Little daughter Calla was born. She lookes so much like her dad (same haircolor).

Well that's mostly the thoughts that ran through my head while playing as farmer Paula.

In my second save my farmer Olivia is madly in love with Clint, but he friendzoned her....for now....(I can't wait for Siv's marriage mod that will let her marry him)
Clint is suffering from depression beacuse his father forced him to become a blacksmith. In my Imagination the father left Clint and his mother when the mother became ill. Clint tried taking care of her but she died in the end. leaving him a bitter man with nothing to look forward too in life. When he moved to Pelican town and met Emily and she was nice to him, he competly missread her signs. He so desperately wanted someone to care about him that he thought he could win her over if he stayed persistant.
He doen't realize how much it hurts Olivia to be asked to play match-maker. Hopefully he'll wake up sometime soon and see that Olivia could make him happy.

well....that's what I've come up with so far. :)

One if my headcannons is that when Sebastian and I drove back from the 10 heart cutscene his motorcycle broke down either right then or afterwords. And after we marry him it's like he could buy a new one but he's part of a family. Also because his urge for the city is more or less gone.
I also imagine when it broke down the farmer and him were laughing on the ground arm-to-arm, because it was oddly surprising, since it has been working perfectly, so they both took it as a sign to not go to the city or accept that their lover wanted to go.

My character came to Pelican Town after the stress of working in Jojo Corp became increasingly dangerous as they became severely depressed. This is what I use to justify the fact that even though I'm in year 3, my farm is still fairly small with only 1/6 of my land used for money making - my character came to the country to have a new experience, not to make money!

                  Mail from 'Mom' or 'Dad.'

So if I remember right, your parent will only send you two mails. One is about approving your new life as a farmer, and the other is sending gift. Male player will have their Mom sending Cookies (Sweet, mom!) , while female player have their dad sending quality Stones (you rock, dad!)

For first timer and casual gamers, you'd understand the difficulties of gathering money. I've had tighten my belt and live in frugality. By the end of year 1, I haven't had made any single dish despite already having a kitchen. All proceed from fishing and harvests go straight to the bin. The only food I ate were Salmonberries and Blackberries, and Field Snack. Relationship with villagers were quite low that it is very rare of them sending me gifts. I have to live purely by my hand and feet. Life was tough.

So when my Mom send me Cookies, it was a treasure from Heaven.

Moving forward, I have finally reached the point where I knew most of tricks from this game (I had been playing blindly without guidance whatsoever). Money starts to flow in, I start to sending gifts, and relationship grows. Villagers start to sending in recipes and gifts.

Two particular gifts caught my attention. It was Evelyn's and George's. They gave me Cookies and Stones. Coincidence?

It was then I start to think:
                  1. During conversation with Lewis, he only mention about Grandpa, but not Grandma. Do the player even have Grandma? If not, then does it mean the player was adopted? If he was adopted, then who are these 'Mom' and 'Dad' then?
                  2. I found out that the first villagers that show concern about the Player's well-being is... Evelyn. The rest of them were simply asking for favor, such as Pam's ale, Lewis's special pants, Dementrius' Melon, and whatnot.
                  Mailstory1.png
                  3. The Player's parent never show their existence, eventhough the Player have gone through major steps in their life: hospitalized, marriage, and child birth.

From these, I will assume that the real identity of these 'Mom' and 'Dad' are Evelyn and George. Maybe because Lewis informed of how the Farmer is adopted. And they lost their only daughter and got raise their grandson directly. Probably their (grand)parental instinct that made them seeing the Farmer's circumstances similar to Alex.
Which also explain why George, the usually stubborn old man, would listen to your reasoning in Penny's 2 heart event and Harvey's 2 heart event.

But this is just a theory though. The player didn't freak out or anything after knowing he's suddenly has a Mom. Or maybe he's in the state of delirious due to being malnourished, having such unbalanced diet for a long time, and dehydrated.

These are some amazing headcanons. The thought of George and Evelyn sending letters as your parents is very interesting, and being adopted (or being orphaned) is a thought I've toyed around with my character for a little bit. I'm still trying to figure her out, hehe. Keep 'em coming!

This headcanon is silly and has literally no impact on my gameplay, but I like to think of Sebastian as a natural redhead like his mom. A WEASLEY!!
It's extremely possible for his hair to be naturally dark, we don't know what his original father looked like. Buuut, I always liked thinking of him being the spit and image of his mom, with red hair and green eyes. (green eyes are on the "sides" of his walking sprite, while the front/back and portraits have the slate blue color... WHOOOOPS) either way, i imagine our little nightmare has red hair and it's the best.
I also imagine Robin as a very... excited mom, so little details like this would have her fawning over old photo albums and gushing about silly things her kids did before they got absorbed into their own worlds. And maybe a time in which Demetrius had really nice luscious hair... I like to think my farmer is a lot like Robin xD

Sebastian reflexively feels a small chill down his spine whenever someone calls him by his full name because that's what Robin (and/or his spouse) calls him when he's in Big Trouble (tm) instead of Seb/Sebby. He's good at hiding it but some things can never be forgotten entirely. :nope:

At some point when you talk to him he'll tell you it's short for Samson, I wasn't best friends with him yet but he said it in another save file.

These are so much fun to read, it's interesting seeing what other's come up with. Part of why I love this game is that it's so relaxing it's easy to fill your head with any story you please. I did kind of think of another one, Sebby has said once that he woke up from a nightmare and then a couple days later he said he couldn't sleep and went for a ride. I think that even though he's happy to be married he's realized that locking himself up in his room he doesn't know how to do much and he feels like he's not good enough which leads to sleepless nights. Even though Juniper(one of my current farmers.) always comes back to him, it's not too surprising they've only been married a few days but she's pretty busy something he wouldn't have noticed since she always made time to see him in the morning, especially when he gave her permission to enter his room. He wants to do better but at the same time he's just going to keep smiling and not bother her, hoping he can help a little more every day, in fact I got a new line where he talks about the slime hutch he wants her to get more because they can be useful money wise and easy to raise, don't remember the exact line it was a longer one. The slimes are just like in his favorite game he didn't think they would be but now he knows better. Perhaps he can help with those maybe once they've had more time he'll feel a little more secure about talking to his wife. Who always rushes home at least at ten to see him before bed, and is there when he wakes up. It doesn't help that his family doesn't seem to care much they haven't mentioned him. He'll need extra love hopefully sooner rather than later he can become even more secure as a dad. Only time will tell I guess.

Hmm I can get too into this :D

I know the truth. I have seen it. I have lived it. I have beaten it.

I've written this elsewhere but I got this whole thing going on that Stardew Valley is a Russian base on the moon and runs on the old Soviet doctrine. JojaCorp is a shill for the New Kremlin. It doesn't matter if you side with them or complete the bundles in the communism center. Mr. Morris is a KGB agent keeping an eye on the colony to make sure the controlled economy doesn't grow beyond the motherland's ability to inflate and deflate the currency as necessary. It serves as an experiment on the viability of terraforming as well as whether socialism will work in space even though it failed horribly on earth. Demetrius is an expatriated American and the only way he'll be granted asylum in Russia is to conduct unethical experiments on the local flora and fauna.

Harvey is using his Ph.D. for the good of the Red Nation. He's tasked with collecting medical data on the residents, keeping them reasonably healthy for a token fee but primarily concerned with sampling blood and other genetic material. The New Kremlin uses this data to better understand the effects of a closed ecosystem on the physiology of humans, and they are not above gene manipulation to achieve a spacefaring population. Between him and Demetrius, they've already modified many of the residents directly and indirectly. Is it any wonder why Maru is a nurse at the clinic with these obvious ties?

It's you, the farmer, who throws a wrench in the plan. Your grandpa was a CIA agent who infiltrated the colony until he was discovered by Mayor Lewis. Shane, an ex-con from Moscow, was ordered to assassinate dear old grandad. His last letter to you had a disarming tone to avoid suspicion. Nevertheless, as expected, the Russian Joja Mafia petitioned for your excommunication to Черныйsайт Альфа or Blacksite Alpha aka Stardew Valley. This forced you off the planet, limiting your retaliation and it also got them a free test subject. What they didn't know is the hidden code in grandpa's statue: "Wait for my return at the dawn of the 3rd year".

These are specific coordinates and instructions for when to activate the secret weapon. The candles around his shrine are actually laser transceivers, transmitting those same coordinates to US CENTCOM where they'll be ready to deploy a tactical strike against the moon. Your task in these 3 years is to feed the people your organic crop to wean them off of the GMO mind control offered by JojaMart. Pierre has taken a great risk to provide you with clean seeds but time is running out. They are already beginning to suspect his treason.

As the clock ticks, epic and ominous music blares while you run to place one L. Goat Milk into the last bundle at the communism center, long since modified by grandpa to transform into an escape pod. He knew you'd be the only who was able and willing to complete all the bundles and that it would take you some time to do so. Its original intent was to further brainwash and re-educate the populace so only the unwitting victims would be inside at the time of the launch while Mr. Morris, Mayor Lewis, and all of New Kremlin's agents smoked and laughed their final moments away in the saloon. Sadly, Pierre was captured and put in a freezer at JojaMart and could not escape. Haley also died.

The earth shakes and trembles. The glare of America's rockets lift the whole center into space while 26 tactical nukes fly past you all. They're beautiful in a way, sailing through the void of the universe for the greater good. You catch glimpses of them as your craft spirals gently in nothingness. Then, an enormous, blinding flash of light. The moon spirals into view, a massive chunk missing, particles everywhere. You salute patriotically, your grandpa avenged and your country served while those scheming commies are eating the biggest bag of butts in hell. You turn your attention to God's gorgeous green earth. Well, actually it's mostly blue from this angle. Still, the most important thing?

It's got a whole lot less red on it. YEEEEEEAHHHHH!! *cue Steve Stevens playing the Top Gun anthem*

Seb is the DM, Sam is some kind of physical fighter (haven't quite decided yet), and Abigail is a rouge. I also hc my farmer being part of their friend group, so naturally she's also part of their D&D group (she's a sorcerer :3).
