Teleportation Demonstration!

This is so awesome. Perfectly fits with the theme.

 

I swear, seeing that teleport animation, and hearing the sounds made me make a noise I forgot I could make. It was sheer, unbridled excitement. Childlike glee. Hahahah. Rho, amazing job. That's all I can say. Just, amazing.

 

This really has me psyched for the game! Just knowing that there is a lot more to the game then what's being shown has me wishing to explore every inch of it.

 

Love how smooth is it.
Seems color change might be possible considering the differences between the gif and video.
Certainly hope it's possible, I'd like to make it.. a white/yellowish glow.

Ooooo... what would be even better to see is a multicolor beam of sorts.
How neat that would be to just even see it

well that isn't what i meant but lol. what i mean is he can generate music by writing code that tells the computer to output a certain note unit thing-o-mo-bob (not sure what it is called)

they did? cool. but programing can involve making of playing music

I guess you could write code to make the game go "beep boop beep" in a pattern but that'd be really clumsy.
Reminds me of the time I used LUA in Computercraft to make it play music with note blocks...

It's much, much better to have somebody good at making music create sound files using existing software.

After that they actually got some of the people who made Homestuck music creating music for Starbound as well, so there's a ton of music that's nowhere in public yet.

Yeah, that's cool.

I am sort of bothered by the fact the beam goes up into space rather than down towards the planet though. But I guess it's to make it work on the planet too, I guess.

 

Not all teleportations work the same way, though. Starbound is a completely different universe, hence a completely different teleporter

 

The way I figured is that it goes up and then comes back down, sort of like an arc.

 

hmm that's cool. but here is an idea maybe at the beginning of the game you can't just teleport down willy nilly you have to use a drop pod or something to go down the first time and set up a teleport esablishment. then once you get more advanced tech you are then able to teleport down.

 

I like that even though it doesn't make much sense.
It's so nostalgic to anyone who's played Megaman.
