Teleport location

So I notice that when my server is booting up there is a line called
Spawn Surface at <0, 1255> which would indicate that it is actually a configurable coordinate.

So, can we expect a way to change this in-game in the near future? I would sure love to relocate to that really cool treehouse that I found on the other side of my massive planet.

I'd love to relocate to a glitch castle, so that I don't need to build my own =D

I was just about to give some feed back about this. I was thinking of having a crafted item called a Beacon and you can place it anywhere on the surface. What it would do is change your spawn location to where ever you put the beacon. I was thinking something along the lines of 2 copper bars and 2 iron bars would make the beacon.

idk.. That seems kinda cheap to me. When I think "beacon" I'm thinking high level technology that might include gold circuits and stuff so maybe they don't let us have it right away, but definitely soon-ish since gold is more common in tier 2.

To me really the mats wouldn't matter. Just would be nice to have an item or option to save a location on a planet and be able to beam down to it, instead of running from the default starting point.

Yeah, in the end it doesn't really matter to me either. Hell, they could give it to you straight away and I probably wouldn't bat an eye. I mean is it really that far fetched to assume that the teleporter is smart enough to have positioning? Now that I think about it, it would have to otherwise it could end up teleporting you inside a mountain.

They should just add a console to the ship which lets you set teleporter coordinates.

But first you would actually have to record the coordinates while on the surface, maybe using some kind of tech, so you know where you are aiming for.

You could change the coordinates on the console freely, but unless you know what you're doing, you run the risk of spawning inside a wall or falling to your death etc.

That's a brilliant idea. We need to run this up the food chain NAOW!

i like this idea, and you would need to craft a GPS to know your exact coordenates on the planet ;-)

There already is a console that displays the current planet... with a marker on it.

If you drag this marker, you see coordinates that you can also find out on the planetary surface.

Then the ship changes to the new orbit.
This costs a little fuel but that's it.
    And it even makes sense.
(not a lot, I admit because the teleporter works planet-wide but pfft! =)

I was thinking something along these lines as well. Love the idea

Is this already in the game? (I haven't gone to any new planets yet so honestly don't know).
I actually like this idea better, the only problem I see is that you may crash into another players ship if you are all trying to land in the same area.

Well, I didn't know whip landings are even possible.

I figured the ships stay in orbit and only the teleport marker changes.

I only pointed out that an "almost like that" interface already exists. It just doesn't do anything. =)

    Sorry I worded that badly.
I meant the ships would crash into each other in orbit if they are all flying to the same spot, which I'm assuming would be directly above the teleport location.

An orbit is not a road.
And space is big. Really big. It's practically impossible to hit an object you didn't specifically try to ram. And even then it's difficult. =)
