As I'm aware, some of you that DON'T own a hyper powerful Alienware computer have experieced that when beaming down to the planet, you will be shot back to the ship. Again. And again. And so forth. Well, the problem lies within the game's way to loading the planet. To make planets seem cooler and smoother, starbound employs invisible loading when you arrive at a planet. The good news is that while you're warping to a planet you want to explore, it's loading the planet the whole time. The BAD news, however, is that if you arrive at said planet and it still hasn't loaded, you can't warp down. It's due to the planet still being loaded and the game refusing to load an unfinished planet. Just, look at that distinguished gentleman! You've made him cry with your invisible loading sequences! BUT HAVE FAITH! What I propose is simple, We kill the batman We implement a simple display showing how much 'Charge' the telepad has! But instead of charge, it could really be a loading bar in disguise! Clearly, this plan is foolproof! I even have a mock up using my abilities to read the future of how great this idea is! As well as an animated mock up! Any feedback would be appreciated! (Also, I hope this is the correct section for this, since it deals with the ship.)
I like the idea, but I'm not a fan of the mock up. I'm not trying to be mean because it looks like you put a lot of effort into it, but it doesn't appeal to me visually. If it looked a bit cleaner and was blue text on a black background to look more similar to the other components on the Human ship I would like it better. Full support to the idea, although I don't know if this will even be an issue once the game is further along in Beta. There is probably a ton of optimization that can still be done as far as load times.
Don't worry about the quality of the art, I get that it doesn't fit the art style of the game, and I wouldn't expect it to since I haven't had much of a chance to copy that *starbound style* as one may call it. Besides, a mock up is never the final product
as someone who runs into this constantly, a visual indication of any kind other than transporter failure would be great.
