Feedback Techs

The techs in the game as of the Nightly build (7/21/2016) seem to have little semblance to the great amount of techs that were in the game in the earlier versions. I miss the Targeted blink, Random blink, Particle boost, and Gravity Neutralizer techs... :( and I think there is a lot of potential to add new ones.

For some feedback the morphball techs are almost completely useless, save the spike morphball that let's you crawl up vertical walls. The Blink Dash tech seems to resemble Random/Targeted blink (but not half as neat), however it is very hard to predict where you will land and a lot of the times you land within or on top of the spike/sawblade traps and not away from them. Because Blink Dash is so hard to predict on the fly, it is nearly useless :(

    NEW:
For a suggestion I think it would be neat if they added a feature where we were able to find "secret/rare/lost" tech cards on other worlds, which we could give to the tech scientist at the Outpost to unlock the ability to purchase these techs with tech chips. The tech's in the game now would be fine if they were only the base ones. Definitely add back Targeted Blink, maybe in the form of a lost tech card. Once found show to the Outpost scientist to be able to purchase it for tech chips. Hopefully others could be added like this as well!

I think there is a lot of potential to change / make additions to the current techs/tech system in the game to really give the player a more immersive experience. If there are any plans for this that anyone has heard of (especially to get the Targeted Blink tech back), let me know please.

    Thanks!

Ya, techs kinda went downhill to be honest. Let's hope for a tech update post-1.0. :)

(I don't know why they got rid of diversity of techs in the first place)

a lot of them were movement-based or movement-enhancing, which was counter-productive to their efforts of making meaningful and slightly difficult jumping puzzles I think.

like, I know you could build yourself a dirt bridge to the chest or whatever. but using a single tech to undermine those efforts would be kinda... lame.

I think they got rid of mobility techs because of the vehicles that they put so much work into.

(I always covered apex labs in mud, not because i lacked the tech, but because of tesla coils killing my performance.:rip:)

On the contrary, I think that it's really lame that we now have to build mud bridges to make a jump because we lack the tech that would have originally enabled us to. Again that's just my opinion. Anything that will pump up the amount/diversity of techs would be great though. So much potential to add more/bring back modifications of the old techs to give the player a better experience. : )

AT ANY RATE, the topic of techs and their general usefulness has come up a lot recently. I'm sure one of their first big post-1.0 updates will be tech-related.

I always thought there should be more overlapping techs. I haven't played nightly, but like for example I never wanted to roll with the old rocket jump because doing so meant giving up the double-jump which is just so universally useful.

I think you should be able to stack any and all techs that don't share input methods.

I'd love to see a feature that resembles this too.

    I hope

back in the old tech system, one of my favorite ways to get around was to jump, dash, double jump. The second jump carried the momentum of the dash. It was especially nice on ocean worlds. I've noticed that now, you lose your dash momentum as soon as it's over, so Air Dash is not nearly as useful as I had hoped.

I really would like if there were synergies between different techs.

I wonder if they're focusing too hard on making sure no tech is "best"

I'd rather they focus on making all the techs fun

Don't know if that's their focus, but I agree completely with you. I think it's okay if some techs are more useful than others.

I miss the old damage shield tech. I doubt I'll be trying dagger/dagger again anytime soon.

Even if they are realy focused on the balance part (and dont want to change that) they could at least add some fun focused tech's for endgame where it dosen't matter as much if they are balanced. At least in my humble opinion.

Thread in general: Btw, targeted blink is a teleportation type weapon now where you fire out a receiver you then teleport too (not sure where or if you can find it in the current game version, but its in the code and was showed of in a blog some time ago when they were adding weapon scripts).

    Same :(

Agree with this as well. But I want Targeted Blink to come back in some form (maybe with reduced range/power if thats what it takes) as an actual tech. Not a weapon tech, which I think is somewhat lame. Just make it a rare/hard to find tech card that can be turned in to allow purchase of the tech with tech chips. Maybe make it cost more tech chips than the others. Add more techs like this, and tech diversity increases problem is solved. :)
