Are you lazy to do a simple thing like discover a snow planet. Now i found a solution! You adventure on planets and help someone. If they trust they will join your crew. You set their new home planet and command them. If you make them work too much they will leave or even try kill you. You can give them different commands find a desert planet. Collect some wood. Kill that thing its all up to you. They can follow you and defend you but you have to give them the gear. You dont only help them you have to feed them. Or some of them are greedy and want money for work. Well thats the idea hope you enjoyed
Hello Duhnman. I'm unsure if you want a PVP Mode, or Team with NPCs. If you were asking for can Group with Friends and Explore the Universe with them, that's possible, you can make Groups Inside an MultiPlayer server:
That would require some AI (Artificial Intelligence) NPCs. It's an fair enough suggestion but when I read AMA DEVs aren't very "inclined" to make this happen since the complexity of the System.
well im not saying they have to straight away put it in the game let them train their game making skills maybe it could be a update
It shouldn't be that hard to create AI for it, as long as you keep the tasks simple. However, I've heard that there are going to be various robots and what not to do things for you (as a late game resolution, I bet) but it might be enough to rule this suggestion out of question...
The Idea of NPCs in a team is okay, but the problems are fatal. An AI never will be able to have the skills of a player and especially not in a sandbox-game. They are likely to die in most combat scenarios and replacing them seems useless.
I guess your right thats a hard thing to put in the game but maybe they will make it at first they may suck but they can keep making them better
The problem is, that this costs a lot of time. They are able to build this in post-release, but not now. Main problem with AI's is, that they need to recognize the situation and handle so they don't die. (Aka, Jump when Enemy is too near) In some situations they can be overpowered by just dodging all attacks, in other situations they are still too stupid. (Blocked, too much projectiles, etc)
Creating Foes is easier than creating helpful NPCs for your team. Foes only need to focus on you, mostly by chasing and attacking. Some have weapons or may even dodge, but this is still not the problem. But as soon as we have Fishes, flying enemies or diffrent weak spots of an enemy it gets too hard for NPCs to hit them or to run them out when they are getting attacked. A good example would be Terraria, Wall of Flesh: An NPC would have problems at what they shall focus, and when they try to run out the Wall of Flesh they would get stuck, fall into lava and die.
