Its hardly a derail, its a conversation of getting other communities with distasteful reps involved in helping out the e3 crash for starbound.

 

I was under the impression he meant it was a train wreck, but that works too.

I'm just confused because I'm not sure if Chucklefish is going to be in this E3 crash thing anymore. Plus all the other threads are locked on it so I don't really even know like

What confuses me is the new development that penny arcade dug up about Indiecrash, about the whole thing possibly not being legitimate. I'd like to discuss that, but apparently we can't. :/

 

I had a feeling it wasn't legitimate, because people could just captcha bot their way to the top, and on top of that next to NO ONE gets in the e3.

 

yeaaah, that's what I am wondering too. Since both threads are locked. It's just a little weird that the devs were all for the E3 thing and even put it in their newsletter and now suddenly they're done? Does that mean the E3 crash thing is fake or they won't go even if they win or what?

I'm not mad or anything, I just sort of want to know whats up with that

There's no evidence that it is fake. It's just... very shady. Having Starbound at E3 would be helpful, but I don't think they want to risk it with this unusual company. They said that they were concerned about this, but I'm not entirely sure what they mean.

They also said that it felt wrong to get a free trip from such a small company, but I don't know. I think it feels wrong in the sense that, well... How could such a small company be giving out those trips for nothing? Is it really out of kindness? This all seems unusual.

 

yeah, I'm starting to guess that the E3 crash thing is fake and they were trying to give tickets and I guess they can't. So it looks like all that contesting and voting and everyone getting mad at everyone else was pretty much for nothing.

I quote from that update:
"we want the contest to be friendly. Everyone is welcome to "game" the contest within the boundaries of what's allowed; that's how competitions work!"

They basically said they want people to cheat in that contest because cheating is winning. This is exactly like someone condoning steroids in sports. 'Everyone is welcome to game the contest' means they truly do not care about indies winning. They just want someone to win, even if said person is getting votes only for personal gain. This raises a red flag. Anyone holding a contest to honestly promote the indies would not allow this Agrentinian Pewdiepie guy to do what he is doing. I'm not stating opinion. I'm stating observational truths and facts, something odd is going on.
