can't agree with No1. The game is in beta, So I guess they added core components. I hope that in future more variety may come. its cool that every race has its own set of items, but uncool that they all make it out of the same material.

And in my feedback topic I already said that progression in this game is too fast and too easy. Terria heavily kept pace with the players playstyle. while here the pace is defined by the level of the planet.
terraria was doable with a, lower tier armor, while in terraria fights are often just one hit situation into both directions. So the equipement is too much deciding over actual skills.

But lets see what the newpatch brings, the char wipe will make me start over again and then I will see how the change feels.

A lot of this, I mean it should be a lot more about crafting. but tbh, crafting is an easy to do, it's just a sprite, a receipe with increadients and some attributes. This is something quite easily done with some time. right now at the stage where the game is, the core features have to be done worked and tested. and therefore one armor suitable for lvl 5 is enough to test this properly. Instead a 3d printer there should also be the possibility to get a receipe out of all furniture items and make them craftable. Endless monsterslaying for gathering pixels just to "buy" them is indeed a bit boring.

right now other things like quest sytsems and stuff should be done and reworked, as well as a kind of balance in ressources. Finnding everything on the surface is too easy.

totaly disagree , if its needed to someone then its easier to make mod , non of this stuff i personaly need in game , i deleted 5 other races anyway , nor need any extra concept that will get deleted after wards , this would only cause more problem.

moding in this game is easy as cake ,get to learn coding and add ur ideas as mod , everyone who need it will get it , and who dont , wont hav time to waste to delete all this stuff he dont need anyways

I agree with a lot of this, though I don't much care about the dead sticking around.

I would like to see, and forgive me if someone has already mentioned it and I missed it, sector progression tied to finding starmaps or the like. Have planets have crashed ships, hidden lab, and a variety of other things you could hunt down underground and pull data from them. Get enough of it from several planets and, with the help of your ship's computers, you find your way to the next sector. Computers which could be part of the crafting system as you may need to improve their capabilities as you move on.

Certainly make exploration a little more exciting as you wonder if your new discovery has the information you desperately need to move on...and makes a lot more sense.

    YES. THIS.

    8) Every new sector is an exact repeat of the previous sector, with new skins and a slightly new boss. But there's no REWARD for beating a sector and moving on, crafting-wise... because GUESS WHAT!! All the new recipes for weapons and armor do the SAME EXACT PERCENTAGE OF DAMAGE and PROTECTION as the previous sector! I'll explain it like this - use the tier 1-5 2h-axe in all situations:
    a) Starting weapons basically 3-or-4-shot all enemies in Alpha Sector - build the new weapons offered and you can 2-shot most mobs. Yeay! You've done it! AND you took down the penguin boss! Time to open up all the awesome new tech for Beta Sector and move on!
    b) You're in Beta Sector, gather 5 pieces of ore and you've got you're sweet-ass new weapon that..... oh, just 2-shots most enemies. Use that the whole time in Beta Sector till you gather enough and beat the robot boss... Excellent! New upgrade tech for Gamma Sector!
    c) Gamma sector, here I come with my new 2h-axe I just built to slaughter all the enemies here................... IN TWO HITS?!? I'm beginning to see a pattern here, but I just made this princess decoy and killed the bone dragon, so...... Delta!
    d) Durasteel, sweet! I've still got some titanium and coal leftover, gonna jump right in with my freshly upgraded tech to take on Sector 4's enemies........... and kill every.single.one.of.them.in.2.HITS.
God!! What's the point of it all? You never get more powerful. You never feel improved. You never get AHEAD. It's constant. It's static. And quite frankly, is incredibly boring. The whole POINT of upgrades is to get STRONGER and MORE POWERFUL - and yes, Terraria nailed this, but so does just about every single other RPG in existence.
This wouldn't be such a huge disappointment for me if there was ANY REASON EVER to visit older sectors where the new weapons can one-shot everyone! Hey you could wield your flashy Durasteel clobberer back in Alpha Sector and annihilate! But there is no reason to. None. No reason whatsoever. Nothing special to find. No drops that could be useful in later sectors. Nothing. If only there was some ingredient I needed to hunt for back in Beta Sector to make a killer weapon in Sector X.........

You find cooler weapons/techs in late sectors, I think. Wider variety and whatnot. I've found 10 tech chests in the alpha sector and all but one contained a pulse jump, so I'm assuming the cooler ones are in the other tiers.

I'm in Sector X and have found pulse jump and dash several times, but that's it.

Also, moved this over to the Starbound Reddit to see if we can't get something going there! http://redd.it/1wo92x

Awwwww man I was hoping to never see one of those damn pulse jump techs ever again. I must have the worst starbound karma. Well if anyone wants one I have more than Ill ever need.

cuorebrave , i have exact same problems with SB right now. And i hope Devs start working on them ASAP, before adding new "cool" but rather insignificant stuff. And first of all, i want to know about system which will replace the current "tier" system because, to tell the truth, i think it's the most important mechanic in the game and all other revolves around it.

And yes, choices, we need them in character progression.

Wow, I feel like Tiy and the developers REALLY READ our thread here and took most everything we said to heart during their 5-hour meeting on February 23rd!!

I think KAG's style of dead bodies would work with Starbound, how the dead bodies are lying around, but they can get pushed around and do a little fall animation when they fall off something.
