I want to make a kotatsu (it's a table with a blanket over it, and has a heater underneath). Drawing the table is easy enough, but how would i go about making an animation for when the the person sets at it? Do I just draw another table png and edit the space where teh person would be? Thats kinda how the tents work, one png for the unoccupied, and other for occupied, but that was easy to figure out. >.>
xxswatelitexx wrote an excellent in-depth tutorial for creating animated sprites. And another one for setting when those animations should play. Otherwise, you can check out the ironbeacon files yourself for a nice and simple example.
You would just need to great a .png with the multiple variations of your table and then specify that file in the .frames files as whatever the width one of your images is. So for example, if your table is 32pix width you could extend it to 128pix width where each 32pix is one variation of the table, and then in the .frames file state that "size" : [32:--] as 32 is the image width, then state "dimensions" : [4, 1], where 4 is the number of image variations
:O That is fairly easy to understand... I was thinking something more like making a table sittable like a chair, but have the characters legs tucked under the table... so I guess not really animated (unless I wanted to make them sleeping)... but if I need to make them kneeling, wouldnt that need a custom pose? And if so, how would I do that?
You could make it a type of bed instead. It doesn't have to regenerate health, can animate passively, make the person sit instead of lay down, and you can add a cover image that can draw over the player when they interact with it. Clone a bed and these options are all open to you.
Oh thats a good idea too... I'll have to try that. My biggest problem is how would I do the character sprite? The bed doesn't really show the character, it's just a big lump under a blanket. lol Is there an outline I have to do or something? I'm probly not explaining myself too well...
