If you have specialized video cards that are made for video editing you will be fine even with old computers. I once worked in a cartoon studio as systems administrator, and I can tell you that there were several video montage workstations that had hardware that was top of the line for year 2002 (and we are talking workstation spec hardware, not general consumer level). But, it was still possible to edit video in real time in Adobe Premiere 2 there thanks to specialized hardware (and I am talking about 1920x1080 resolution videos). Once you started to render the final edit of the video it could take all night, that is true.
The machine that was used to write stuff to betacam for TV play was even more ancient then that too. Still, the speed at which the video is written to the tape is equal to the speed of the tape recorder, and the hardware was sufficient for that (still, we're talking about 720×576 resolution of PAL here).

So no, depending on your goals old hardware can be enough, and if coupled with software from that time it could perform on par with current generation hardware+software. On other hand, the hardware in question at the time usually costed about 3-5 times more then what you can get now. Still, for gaming upgrades every 3-5 years are more or less required, although now less frequently then it was in the 90s, we more or less have reached sort of hardware ceiling, so you can get by on quite cheap hardware, and it would last you more then the usual 3 or so years. You wouldn't be able to run latest games on highest graphics resolution and settings, true. But you would be able to get decent fps and enjoyment.

Also, thanks for the utility from Skyrim nexus, Im going to try it now.

Hi, I was wondering if you were able to successfully get the application working. If so, yay! If not, my job here is not yet done!

Right off the bat you might have an issue with Windows XP and ontop of that it's using service pack 2 not 3.
You're CPU is pretty much weak.... so you might have a tough time right there

and you basically screwed yourself over with the Intel Graphics card
    but you're fine with RAM

OVERALL: You MIGHT not be able to run it at all since it's on Service Pack 2 but luckily Service Pack 3 is free to download however that doesnt totally leave you in the clear since both your gaphics card is bad and your CPU. TECHNICALLY I would say your CPU is fine but the graphics card worries me. If you do go ahead and buy it i would highly say run it on openGL if your intel graphics card supports it.

I mean it WILL WORK (the system req's say so) but you might have some lag... I don't like to brag ;) ;) but i have a pretty good pc and i still honestly get lag in villages. HOWEVER this is still in beta and they havent reached the "optimization phase" so you could still easily be in luck. also again if you do purchase it (i think you should it's a great game) make sure you play the OpenGL version if you can. IT GREATLY reduces lag. then again all computers are different so you might have better luck with DirectX but seeing how XP is limited to 9 it might have a struggle. ALSO since you do have windows XP be prepared for multiple bugs because when i had Windows XP i couldnt play it at all for like 3 weeks.

Thank you very much for your help. I could wait and then use when the optimalization is done. I mean, I did ran Half Life 2 on rather high settings without much lag, even while I doubt I could, so I think I can make this being good too. :)
