Same here :S For me the survivalist mod was the 'normal' Starbound while the un-survivalist starbound feels incomplet. i did not care about the final stage of starbound but now i do since i can't wait to have survivalist back!
Yes, it is currently on hold I'm afraid as I have exams and plenty of other stuff going on. Meanwhile, maybe you would want to support a new project I'm working on? I'm raising money for aid organizations to help poor people. It doesn't require donations or cost you anything to contribute: Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSHtmq9gELw
Is this mod compatible with enraged koala yet?If not how do you switch versions.I also have another question. Why does my game crash as soon as it's about to load the main screen and it says monster repeat type SmallFlyingNight. How do you fix this? (if it's not just because it's not compatible with enraged koala,if it's not compatible)
Why dose it say error loading moster type flying monster? i cant launch starbound with this mod installed.
it is not updated for curent build of Starbound (which is unfortunate lot of good stuff happend since last mod update) Your only way how to play the mod is by playing it on older builds You will need Beta v. Enraged Koala - Update 6' Protocol: 642 for it to work You really dont need the steam for it to work Well i dont suppose Chucklefish would mind you downloading older versions from "unofficial" channels Since we already bought the game (i hope you did, if not please do so, it is rather cheap) ...and funny story i actually found one of the devs (omni i think) on torrent site advising people about posible malware in one of the comments Easy way to check version is just launch the build and it should be writen in bottom right corner in main menu. Or after you launch the game, it will create "starbound.log" file. There you can read same info. btw amazing hedgehog
Thanks for sharing the working build DirkLarien, I was going crazy trying to figure out exactly which build I need. However, it still doesn't seem to run properly for that version either. I tried it and got past the opening screen and character creation. Then, when creating the universe, the game crashed on me with the following error: BiomeExeption: No such weather type 'fog' BiomeDatabase::getWeatherType(String) BiomeDatabase::surfaceWeathers(String, unsigned long long) WorldTemplateData::build(CelestialParameters) WorldTemplateData::WorldTemplate(CelestialParameters) UniverseServer::createWorld(CelestialCoordinate) UniverseServer::UniverseServer(String,bool,CelestialCoordinate) ClientApplication::update() StarApplicationBase::run() _SDL_main _console_main It should be the correct version, as shown on the opening screen. Maybe it just crashes for new characters? Is it working for you on that version?
No i dont think so it clearly states its about "weather" and worlds hmm make sure you don’t have any other mod installed ... only one i tested with survivalist is - extra zoom levels mod that one don’t affect the content in any way. Hmm other possibility is that there were more versions of that build without changing numbers. If i recall corectly, there were two updates near that date march 17- 19th one was a hotfix for weather. It looks like you need that hotfixed version I wish that chucklefish would place older versions of a game on the site for those who bought it already.
Is there any other mods similar to this? I can't force myself to play the vanilla game, i need it to be harder.
Have you tried doing something simple yet, like playing permadeath without stims, bandages and healing food (maybe without beds as well?)? Any game can always be made more or less challenging, It simply depends on ones attitude.
I mean I could but nothing i can do in the vanilla game will make it as fun as Survivalist mod has been. Everything actually mattered, in the normal game progression isn't even fun after you do it once.
So pretty much, In-Game life needs purpose, consequence and actually feel like a life (Or at least the story of your character). (I can certainly agree on that ) I don't think I know of any mods that could do this as well as this one seemingly did it... Have you tried to find some way to downgrade your version and/or maybe find some decent servers that run this or similar mods? That way you might still be able to play the mod and maybe even with other people who wonder about the same things you do. (Said people probably have more experience regarding mods that alter this specific part of the game, and would as such be more useful to you) Also: In the mod, haven't played it yet, the logical quest would be realize that your ship is done for, to survive and repair your ship enough to get you to a lightly inhabited sector, (not an in-game sector, just a part of space) followed by stealing a ship (disabling any eventual tracking devices and so on), travelling far away, and then resuming what one's quest is. Is this something you do in this mod?
Well in this one your ship is done but you can beam down to the current planet. Once you get there you're wearing rags and have a stick to defend yourself. The whole way to progress is redone and all that. Enemies are actually dangerous and the elements actually matter. Its just a bunch of fun. I would play and have my son watch me, he was always hoping the little guy on the screen he named Starbound would not die this time. Since the mod was let go I havent played. The other day my kid was hitting a tree with a stick he found and said "look I'm starbound!" so now i want to play real bad! ha I could try to revert back but im sure it'll be a crazy long process or would require I pirate a copy which... i dont want to do since i paid for one .
Hello. I followed the instructions for installing this mod and I tried to launch the game but it crashes and says error loading monster types and then ends the program. Does anybody know a solution to this problem?
