If your character will most likely be customizable...how about mounts, too? Say you can mix and match an allotted number of "parts (mechanical or biological-> for bunny lovers)," each with it's own randomly generated stat/modifier. That would be pretty awesome. I'd love to look like Sam Elliott while riding a mechanized giant dodo bird.

 

I want to ride the deer from castle crashers.
