But we have all of these toilet objects without any need for them! I demand satisfaction. Actually, that's likely not the best thing to demand when discussing the restroom, so let's just make that optional.

I agree, we need to use the toilets! And and we have to keep the resulting poop monsters in check every once in a while, or they'll overflow from our septic tank and destroy the WORLD!!! D:

I'm assuming you are referencing the sewer dungeon, right? http://starbounder.org/Sewer_Dungeon

If not, you may very well have accidentally the whole thing!

To give us a reason to farm.

And if they just put farming in with no hunger mechanic, then you know folks would raise a huge stink about it.

Thing is, there's already another ( and probably more useful) reason to farm and that's for health and buffs (even though I believe it's hardly needed considering the lack of difficulty in the game's present state). The time it takes you to set up a farm and wait for the food to grow, you could have traveled around your planet and foraged for fruits and be content with enough food to last you until the next expansion.

Agreed, raw ingredients are bit over powered. Especially if you run into those eyeball tree planets (even when/if they put food toxicity in, Florians are going to have a big advantage. I started on a planet with the eyeball trees/bushes. I now have 1000 oculmelons. I will never want for food for a long long time)

I wouldn't mind adding thirst, and maybe sleep requirements, but that's it. If I wanted to micromanage my character's every biological function, I'd play The Sims.

THIS! I never farm past my first few days because there is no point. I get so much meat from killing beasties that I never seem to run out. This is without even trying to get meats.

On my current character I've been to a lot of poison planets so I found a lot of "toxic top" fruits. The description says they're poisonous. But I harvested about 200 of them, and they're my food to keep my hunger bar up. I have not gotten poisoned once. So I guess I'll keep eating them.

those eye plants can be used to make furniture, but you have to find a schematic first, maybe all the plants will have other uses apart from just food in the future

So if you get so much meat why do you need to farm to fill your hunger bar? I think you're missing the point. When you have so much surface fruits waiting to be picked and just about every other alien drops meat, why would you need to farm in order to fill your hunger bar? The only thing I can really see farming useful for is for buffs and health. Then again, bandaids are much easier to make and take less time which result in farming only being good for buffs.

If you need food, you can starve if you dont get food. Simple concept really.

Besides, you're not exactly in the center of civilization when you're starting out. You're super lucky if you have a town on the planet you start out on. You're like a person who got lost in the middle of a forest or who had a nasty car crash out in the middle of nowhere. Sure you have a cell phone to call for help but it won't do you much good if you can't get a signal.

if you want a good plant to eat, go find you some Toxictops. they give you no hunger, but they are basically a drug. when you eat it, your character's eyes go all droopy for a few seconds. so basically its like a plant that gets you high, and gives you no help in the hunger department whatsoever. seems kinda familiar.

I hope I'm not the only one that keeps a small (6-plot) farm in his spaceship as a 'just in case'...

So I just walked though a rainbow biome. 44 neonmelons and counting. Oh yeah hunger is totally going to be an issue for me. I'm going to starve to death so hard. Picking up on the sarcasm? Yeah that needs to be fixed.

I do as well, though it's not getting much use since I have a cook I can just buy food items from for super cheap.
