As you all know, there are sunspots in the real suns.... but in starbound they would be areas where you could land and explore the very high level area of the sun...... before the sunspot closes that is, whenever you enter a sunspot there will be a timer telling you how long it will remain open from 20 minutes (rare) to 1 minute, enemies will attack you on this planet, all fire-based all highly deadly and hard to kill, water will instantly evaporate if placed on the sun but if you want to stay on the sun longer than the sunspot's time then just mine down and cover up the hole (fire is on surface of sun, rest made of ash,or lava) but be warned it will be unlikely to find another sunspot for a while...need radiation/heat-proof armour
neat. even more mad than the black hole ore and my thread together. first: how the hell could a sun have a solid center, its so damn hot! second, NOTHING in this world can survive inside a sun, exept supermen. Sunpots... sounds new to my... Finally, suns are radiactive, i mean come on, even if you land in a sun, radition would kill you instantly.
You'd need some pretty hardcore heat shielding to survive even being NEAR a sunspot, let alone on one.
If you could somehow have strong enough protection from the heat & radiation, you'd have to worry about being squashed by the immense amount of gravity.
there is no way to reduce the gravity effect of anything, in fact, such armor, would sash yourself, because it must be heavy and large, so, goodbye universe!
I dunno, it sounds like a pretty cool idea to me. It would definitely be a late game thing, and even then livable sun-spots should be rare to find. I'd put the minimum time of existence to be more like five minutes though. Also, instead of it being minable far underground like a normal planet, after 20-50 blocks it would just be lava, and the lava-no wait, a special star-fluid that's even hotter and brighter than lava, with different colors for different colored stars!-would slowly turn the sunspot material into the lava or star fluid. As for the stuff itself, the sunspot would be made of mostly useless black rock, which would be extremely hard and heavy and nearly impenetrable to explosives, and metallic looking. There would also be some rare brightly shining ores in it, used for special late game items.
That sounds great. And am I the only one who wants to have an epic duel on a star? A dramtic ending to the game...
You walk up on a dark star, see the guy who destroyed your family facing the other way. *solar flare* "come to die so soon? Pity, we could have been allies." *boss turns around* "But now you must die" You must beat him, then the collapsing star implodes and he is killed.
Midway through the fight, does he realize gravity still exists and becomes only as tall as a sheet of paper is thick?
