The title says it. These bosses could be summoned just like in Terraria, for e.g: using an item like "radio transmitter" or even talking to a special NPC may make them appear! I could imagine bosses like: - enemy spaceships- huge flying mecha creatures- an invasion (like the goblin army) So that would basically be the deal. Also thanks to Drithyl for this idea! As always, please leave your opinions, ideas and suggestions!
So yeah. This would be awesome. These bosses should be especially and incredibly hard, of course, since you'd be able to call them at a precise moment (thus leaving you all the time to prepare the encounter). Also, epic battles.
That would be cool, yes. huge flying mecha creatures =/= The Twins Jk, it would give me a bit of a good old feeling when i summon someting!
We could also create our summonable bosses, perhaps? Get mecha parts, create a tank, go away, turn it IA to "Agressive Against Me" and prepare to the fight!
The summonable bosses is a great idea, and instead of being like Terraria where the bosses almost immediately attacks you, they will periodically attack you. i.e. you activate a "strange" radio transmitter, but you don't know what it does or what happens, but maybe after a while, I mean one day or two in-game, out of nowhere an alien ship or a robot starts to make it's way towards your home or base, and that is when the boss fight starts And also if you had a system to detect anomalies and abnormal disturbances, you could have early detection and can prepare for whats to come. Nevertheless Summonable Bosses, great idea
That's great, having apparently useless items that summons its effects after a long time, like a couple of days. Hey, maybe that radio DID work after all, only not when you expected it
Thanks for the feedback, guys! And it's nice to see that some people are thinking about ideas to increase the depth of this idea. Instead of simply pressing a button and starting the fight, there could be much more room for preperations/pre-quests/effects/requirements and so on, and so on!
Yeah the item would seem useless until it actually happened which would put more fun and excitement into the boss fights. Thanks for the feedback. Thank you for threading this suggestion mate appreciate it.
Maybe the item to actually do this is rare! And drops from rare npc deaths! Or rare mobs? ~ Thank You! John Devince
I don't think this would work. How would the transmissions get across? "Hey, I'm here. Come attack me NOW!" I think if you randomize these events and give the option whether or not to continue them would be more beneficial. For instance, "You notice a large enemy ship looming in the distance. Cloak the space station or prepare for the coming invasion?" Or maybe, "An army of the indigenous species marches from the west! Prepare for a large scale conflict or evacuate the planet immediately." Even "(Insert unknown antagonist here) has deployed an agent in an attempt to finish what he started! Arm yourself, or escape!"
There could be multiple ways to deal with the attacks, but the game would not show you that. In the enemy ship case, you can cloak your base, or try to make eace with them, or hide the whole base underground, if you prepared it to do it so, or run, or put explosives in the whole base, wait until they invade it and detonate all while in safety... ...also, it's not needed to be a radio signal. The space is huge and ancient, so, strange artifacts can do things as opening wormholes or even summoning monsters with not much explanation, so that add some risk to deal with not identified stuff. Roguelike players know what i'm talking about...
I know it doesn't have to be a radio signal. That's why I'm talking about randomized events. But I like the artifact idea a lot! Also, here's a tissue. Don't cry. EDIT: This isn't a face, apparently.
What I mean by the transmission is that when you activate it, they alien ship or whatever think it is a call for help or maybe a they picked up the signal and think it is something of importance and come and try to see what it is. It doesn't specifically mean it is come attack me now. Well that's my opinion anyways.
