[IMG] Late game farming off animals is boring and really not needed. There should be a final upgrade past level 3 that allows auto farming from each animal so every morning a box outside could have milk, eggs, wool, etc. This would not only make it reasonable to keep your animals but actually you could gain a few coops or barns and really profit off of them especially since late game you have so much money to burn.

Of course you would still need to pet them to get hearts up but its just an idea as i really would love to make animals more part of the farm but its just kinda pointless compared to how much profit is from less work on the right plants.

    Thoughts?

My thought is that should be in the "suggestion" section. :3

And also it would be pretty nice to have this ingame. But it seems more like mod material to me :D

Umm... I just posted a cost analysis of animal products, and pigs with truffles and truffle oil can actually produce more cash than Ancient Fruit.

As far as automation, there already IS a mod which does precisely this. Head over to the Mods forum under Game Mechanics. It is called Farm Automation.

I kind of enjoy collecting the animal products myself though, I specifically plan to fill my farm with a lot of animals just so I can spend more time doing that and less time...well, killing time. lol I kinda wish we could do more with them though besides petting, like maybe grooming and giving treats to boost their happiness for the day. That would be a great way to make up for not being able to let them outside during winter.

I could go without the auto collection because like Luthien I enjoy collecting the things myself. Just do what I do if you want a lot of stuff and collect it everyday and stockpile it cause you forget to put in your farm machines

Better quality food that raises happiness would be neat, eh?

I'm not terribly in favour of this. I am annoyed by how time-intensive animals are compared to crops. I spend half the day just collecting my animal products and processing them, and petting them all. I could avoid all that, I suppose, with an automated barn/coop but for the fact that if I didn't have my animals to take care of I would have very little to do in the game. I mean, my crops are all watered. I've just got to go and collect the field that producing, grab my greenhouse fruits, grab my mushrooms once in awhile and that takes me to about 8: 30AM.

If some people want a mod for that, all the power to them, and if ConcernedApe brought this into the base game I'd probably capitulate and get it (if only b/c I'm a completionist and I wanna get everything) but if you're asking the question, my answer is 'no, thank you'

I was actually thinking about that the other day, that it would be cool to be able to make feed for our animals. Like maybe hay + (insert crop here) would make a certain quality feed that would give a boost to their output, like maybe double eggs/milk etc. Or, you could feed them a certain type of food and it would last them more than a day, so you could skip feeding. There could also be something of a timed feeder, like a big block of something that would last a certain number of days. Just rambling now but yeah, making food and treats for our animals would be fun. :3

You should be able to hire someone, in Harvest Moon you can have the gnomes to do all your dirt work.

Having farm hands would be way cooler. You could interact with them, and the more friendly you are with them maybe they're more productive, therefore your animals have a slight advantage in the happiness factor. I would add in that you would have to pay your farmhands a wage, maybe with the option to give them a raise/demotion. Otherwise, I am totally against automation of farming... the point of this game is to farm. (Well, part of the point.) It can get tedious, but for some people (especially those playing games of this variety) the tedium is part of the experience and the fun.

Those kind of mechanics in game normally are attained in endgame, the Harvest Moon that I played for example, you can hire a gnome for a week (I think) if you exchange one sack of flour and they are expensive in the beginning. The use of sprinklers already do everything for you, you only need to set up the soil once a year and put fertilizers, they are kinda OP if you ask me... the animals only have the advantage of auto-feed them, that particulary don't take any of your time, I think that have a shepherd for your animals would be cool and It's kinda crazy if you stop to think, that youre managing a endgame farm all alone.

Realistic speaking I don't think that the creator have time to code something like this.

I feel like when you have kids and they get old enough they should be able to help out around the farm, not doing everything of course but maybe help collect animal products and removing broken fences, stuff like that.
I enjoy a lot of the tediousness of the game, since it makes it easy to focus (for me) and helps me keep busy. Other than that i dont know if there is a lot to do outside of the animals and farming to keep me playing the game if it was taken out of the picture through automation.
