Sub-Races (In Terms of RP/For Fun!)

I tried looking for a similar topic but the search didn't come up with anything, so I apologize if there's been a similar topic about this.

When I was playing around with the character creator making Florans awhile back, I found myself drawn to the mushroom cap hairstyle. Unlike just about any other hair (that I noticed) it's the only one that involves mushrooms/fungi. So I jokingly referred to these mushroom people as Funguys (read it outloud ), an off-shoot of Florans.

I've seen other people suggest sub-races as well - Yetis for example, as an Apex sub-race.

So just for fun, post your ideas/thoughts for sub-races based on the 7 in the game currently!

Quick Notes: THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW RACES, that should be posted in the suggestions area of the forums. This is just for fun, and potentially for RP ideas when the game finally comes out. Also, while I'm not going to stop you, try not to talk about your idea for an entirely new race here. The idea is to be creative with what's already known/available.

With that out of the way!


Funguy
- An off-shoot of Florans, Funguys are made primarily from fungus rather than plants. While Florans are known for their cannibalism and are more predatory, Funguys are scavengers. They can live very well off the rotting scraps of meat and vegetation they find. They also prefer much darker environments in comparison to their Floran cousins and can often be found living in damp caves or in large underground burrows. Every 'tribe' is led by a female, but for some reason or another these leaders seem prone to capture.


Aquillian
- 'Grounded' Avian who shun the notion that their lack of flight is a curse and embrace their exceptional swimming talents, Aquillian are perfectly suited to life near water. They typically prefer warmer, tropical climates as they spend much of their days diving for food and treasures. Relations with Hylotl vary, as Aquillian can sometimes unknowingly (or even knowingly!) invade their territory in search of shiny things to add to their wealth. Some are known to be exceptionally greedy, especially when it comes to gold or jewels. They also have very loud, often raspy voices.


Seapunkies
Genetic experiments on specially selected Apex resulted in the first ape-phibians. These aquatic apes seemed to have the perfect qualities needed to conquer both land and sea, but it turns out the Seapunkies aren't interested in all that. After a daring escape from the facility they'd been confined to for so long they ran off and formed their own culture - one that defies 'the ape' and isn't about to be told what to do. They live by their own rules, which unfortunately seem to flux from day to day. Many prefer to live in run-down and abandoned buildings, thinking that no one would want to bother such places. They also seem to have an uncanny talent for music and are fairly clever singers.

 

I wasn't planning on making a Floran, but now I sure am!

Aquillian

SHEMALES
Called it.

 

The part of the equation which states that 'male' plus 'female' is basically stating that the male and females multiplied by their reproduction rate, divided by the number of possible offspring in a certain amount of time (with subtracted possibilities with orientation in the children) over time to the possibility of any outside forces working on their genes turns the outcome of any possible sub-related class improbable. It's not adding the male and females into the same being.

 

so... Aquillian = duck?

 

Basically 8D Any water fowl, like swans and ducks and geese, even penguins I guess - though some penguins would prefer colder climates. Those could be those own thing as well!

 

We aren't talking about... crossbreeding... are we? I'm not sure if a Human wiping their butt on a Florian would produce much... maybe grass stains.

 

With enough creativity there could totally be sub-races based on Humans. 'Race' can be a pretty loose term in this context. For example, what about Cyborgs? Or genetically enhanced humans, opposite in effect of the Apex? Or even mutants! Though of course the character creator only allows so much creative freedom right now, so complex things like that might not be possible as it stands right now I guess...

 

No, I wasn't implying that. But if someone wanted to make an interesting sub-race based on that idea, that's up to them! This is all just for fun

 

It would be great idea a simbiosis between a Glitch and a Novakid, the Glitch acting as a memory and armor part, the Novakid being the irrational and way of powering the glitch

Cool idea! Doubt it will be in the game, may just be a community thing.

@mooncats5 - Just wanted to say that your ideas are awesome! They're unique and interesting, and have descriptions that sound canon. I would be behind making a Subrace a Community spawned thing, like making a choice to create a character to match the parameters of the subrace and RPing within that Subrace's culture. I'm gonna ponder on this and try to come up with something. What a great brain teaser, thank you!

 

I honestly don't understand the appeal of "extra-curricular" role playing beyond the bounds of the video game you're playing, but I DO seriously enjoy the ideas put forth in this thread by the OP. Really neat to expand on the lore, even if it is just a blurb I read when I choose a particular hairstyle.

How about Glitch who have begun incorporating living tissues into their systems to try to become organic beings a la Bicentennial Man? This could open up a subspecies for every other race in the game. They've become self-aware beyond the scope of their programming and chosen to transcend their original purpose in the search for a more meaningful existence.

Or some crap like that.
