Is this about that whole thread I made suggesting enslaving other races?

    Pets? Yes.

    Why? Because why not.

    More features, the better!

if they are going to add pets I agree, either be able to turn them off, or make it so we can create our own eventually. If i'm in an unknown world I don't want a pet dog, I want a pet fairy :D

but kind of going against Bacon (SORRY LOVELY) if we do get pets, I would like a fairy or something that followed me arrow and provided a smig of light maybe, kind of like that light ball from terraria

Please no starting pets. Overall, I would love the addition of pets/pet battles/taming, but no starter pets please. There's got to be something more original and intriguing rattling around in your brains than just starter pets. Think, and don't feel rushed! I can tell even the devs are somewhat apprehensive about accepting this as the next stretch goal.

At first I was really excited about this, but after thinking it through, I strongly believe that if they're implemented, it should be an optional thing for the player to toggle whether or not they want it. or even if you allow us to force it to stay in the spaceship while we go planetside.

I'm down for a pet system.

I mean, honestly, with a game like this, where almost anything seems possible, there are always going to be people who'd rather have A instead of B. And no one ever said you had to lay down a stretch goal system anyway (though it's awesome that you did! It helps show where all the extra money is going). If you guys are having the problem of "If we keep adding stuff it will delay release" after less than a WEEK of the preorder going up, then it's almost 100% certain that it will happen if goals keep getting added.

To me, I'd much rather have the game now with more content added later, than get the game later with more content added at release. There is not a single thing cool or crazy enough that will truly warrant pushing the game's release back. Stuff can always be added after release.

pets and taming are already in. this goal lets you start with one from scratch.

If the pet grows over time and we get to mount the pet once it is big, that would be really cool. Though a pet system isn't really something impressive, and looks more like a nice feature to add.
For a major stretch goal I'd love to see overall improvements to the game. With added things such as Translations, cinematics (intro outro) and maybe VA. A companion app maybe.

Actually a non combat pet that only follows you around is something that i really hate. If it's not usefull or has something to offer (breeding, light, carrying stuff) i prefer not have one.
Also i don't mind if you add the fosil system and races and extras or the pet as a whole system (combat, breeding, splicing genes, etc) but you add it as an expansion later on.
    Thanks

I mean, going against my original statement, If we are going to reach the stretch goal of an estimated $800,000 dollars and receive pets, atleast have them be usefull if they don't do combat. project light, make a noise near ores, make a louder noise near rarer ores, go towards a chest to lead you to it in the dark.

I don't think anyone is disciplined enough to read 74 pages of comments before posting... so please keep that in mind if I repeat someone.

I voted 'nay' because even though a non-combat pet system is cool, I would prefer to see the beta and game released ASAP. Please understand, it's not a matter of pets aren't cool... it's simply that my anticipation of the actual game has long out-weighed a non-combat pet system.

In other words, I have been salivating more over this game in one year's time than I did over D3 in the 3 or 4 years it took Blizzard to release.

Meh. Starting pets would be good as a mini-stretch goal, around the $50k-$80 mark. If they are going to be implemented, they need to be somewhat useful, and not just be for cosmetic purposes. Stuff like finding loot and carrying extra stuff for you would be useful (think Dogmeat from Fallout 3). For a more epic stretch goal, I think a DNA lab or FTL style space combat on release would be freaking awesome. Also, Keep up the good work devs!

    1. YES to Starting Pets, but with possibility to NOT pick one.
    2. YES to more Stretch Goals, but NO if they delay BETA (it's ok for me if they delay actual "release").

  14. I get a bit frustrated when people post and Vote Yes, without know about the Monster Capture / Taming, and other info about this kind of system already confirmed.

IF WE NOTICE, people that have more knowledge about the Game, Voted NO. ^^

no to pets if they turn out to be only cosmetic
Yes to pets if they turn out to be of some use, finding ores for you or lighting up an area or leading you to chests.

I'm not against pets, but I would want to hear more details about the system before I put my entire support behind the idea.

Would each individual pet have a special effect or bonus? Can you train them and give them equipment to make them eventually become combat capable if they don't start out as such? Do you have to always have them with you or can you tell them to stay in your base/ship? Will they be replaceable later with captured creatures? Will you be stuck with the one you choose in the beginning or can you swap them out with other non-combat pets? Etc.

Basically I'm asking if they're an aspect of your character made in character creation and is equally as cosmetic as your hair choice, or are they more like a piece of starter equipment that helps define your playstyle and that you can modify later?

If they would do that, i'd be pissing them off for refunding me.
And here's why : That would mean the bêta is already functional and enjoyable and that they hadn't a valid reason to not release it.

You see, they don't want to release a broken piece of software and scare all the people who invested time (and money now) for the game, they have to release it "when it's ready" (© Blizzard).
The stretch goals are merely a way to thank us for supporting them by adding things immediately in the to-be bêta they could have released later without that funding.

At least, it's what honest game companies does :) (and I'm pretty sure Chucklefish is among them)

The only problems with pets like this having a use, is that those of us who don't want to use a pet at all would then be at a loss for not using a pet.

If a pet can find ores and lead me to chests, then I almost have to choose to use a pet because it offers good benefits.
