Important Stretch Goal Thoughts -- Pets?

Community MUST be more consensual about such things. If like it is 500 NO for 1000 YES, there are Other things for SURE will make the Community vote more than 90% for YES!

 

But there will be pet system in the game. The question is do you have a starter pet, or not. It is confirmed, that you could tame some monsters.

 

Honestly, vanity pet is the perfect definition of "accessory".

If they provide some gameplay mechanic maybe... well that would be very interesting (example: minor passive bonus but they can be killed)

 

They don't die they will be send back to the ship, they faint

 

And now you are saying strange things. As they want it to be Vanity, it will be a "Cute thing following you arround". They can do Better than that. Really.

Game development isn't actually a democracy bro. Even if it was, 60% is enough for a clear-cut victory. I like it, most people seem to. There is a vocal minority who doesn't. Therefore we should at least entertain the idea, if not implementing optional pets in the first place.

 

I think im going to vote against it, Being apart of Maplestory for about a year, pets where alot of money (not saying we must spend money to get them, I dont expect starbound to be an item mall) but it will just add a problem to our every day starbound lives. not only will they just eat our money on food and care (ingame of course), people will brag, for example, I would expect you to add a mega pet, one you get for defeating a boss or is really rare. lets say a player gets that and your chilling with you starter pet. This guy walks into your base with this oversized dragon pet that just gets in the way of EVERYTHING.

if you can get rid of them, I mean I wouldn't mind, I might pick a pet for the hell of it, but atleast make them more of a companion, not a pet. I rather have something help me fight than sit there and watch me die.

 

i think ppl didn't understood that this is special starter pets that change depending on your race.

it's not random monsters, they are part of the lore of the races.

 

Actually, you're wrong on both counts. Slenderman started out with 2 photoshopped pictures and a snippet of text to accompany them during a "Creepiest Photoshop" contest on SomethingAwful. The other goons loved it, it got a small following. It got a lot more popular when some youtubers started to make a video series based on it. The most popular series is "Marble Hornets". It got most if it's current popularity when a bunch of people made a really mediocre game about him and now he isn't even scary anymore because the mystery around him was lost.

 

WHAT'S BETTER?
- Add a controversial thing that part of the Community doesn't want.
- Add something the majority of the Community Want.

Pets sound amazing, and starter pets... awesome. It would be nice to feel not alone all the time while exploring.

 

There is already a pokemon like pet system planned so cosmetic pets are useless in my eyes. (In maple story i have still my snail)

 

The Majority of the community wants this. It's all in the poll results.

 

I would like too see something like ancient artifacts that can be used to upgrade the ship, weapons, character or just be used as Decorations. Or better yet, have some sort of galactic Museum to display fossels, relics, plants and animals.

 

66% is NOT the Majority, I would say for that it would require about 80% of the Community: And that's possible, there are suggestions in this Forum with 98% approval rate.

 

I was talking about two different things: starter pets and a possible equip system for pets (notive how I'm not talking about an equip system for starter pets). But yeah, I can see how I wasn't top clear.
