Strangest thing you've ever pulled out of a trash can?

Generally you get trash, or low end food, but every once in a while...

I found a gold bar while searching trash. A GOLD BAR. Who on earth throws away a gold bar?? I wonder what Linus (who checks the trash cans for food) would have said if he found this...

 

I forget which meal (I think it was fried calamari), but I straight up found an entire dish in the trash. Why would you throw away the whole thing?? I gave it to Pierre because he loves that stuff and because I don't like him and he doesn't deserve my home-cooked meals.

 

I found a full bowl of soup, I gave it away and the NPC I gave it to hated it......

 

I've found eels and super cucumbers.

 

Was that by any chance by Haley's house? lol

So far my weirdest find is pancakes. I also find bread more often than trash...

Everybody hates you if you gift it but somehow they can be found in trashcans and with a fishing rod.

 

Sam likes JoJa Cola. Maybe he leaves cans of it lying around and people throw it out when he leaves.

Well the weirdest thing I found was probably a gold bar aswell. Can't really think of anything else that I've found, apart from a food dish or two.

 

I've gotten a whole plate of omelets from the trash before, I was excited because I was going to use it for health and energy in the mines! (which I completed within the first year, I really like the mining portion of this game)
But once I saw Marine was fan of them and I needed her hearts for the Purple Shorts quest I gave it to her. What she doesn't know won't hurt her, right?

 

I found a plate of Sashimi in the trash. Yay, raw fish! I don't think I should eat it. Ever. Or give it to anyone unless I want them to die.

 

Most of the time you will get trash stuff/bread/joja cola, but occasionally you really do find something quite useful. I've found field snacks, wood (who throws away wood??), a chocolate cake, green algae, and a pink cake before.

 

...people actually check the trashcans? Like, regularly? Why?

 

Free stuff. Free food, and apparently free gold. If you're too lazy to cook, like myself, it's incredibly useful. And sometimes it can given to NPCs as gifts

 

I do it in my first year because the free food gives you much needed endrgy boosts. When I get cows and chickens I usually stop doing it and eat omlette all day every day.
My final stage are Poppy Seed Muffins but that's just RP because I play on the Muffin or Cupcake Farm.

 

Sometimes i go for waste because my way is simply near them and nobody looks
I don`t go for waste cans specifically, but if they are on my way...
